Newbie to site. Diagnosed borderline COPD 5 years ago, stopped smoking 3.5 years ago after smoking up to 60 a day. Champix did the trick..
Initially was put on Salamol Easi-Breathe. Everything appeared fine until recently when I started with a chest infection back in October, since then I have had 5 more chest infection, 4 lots of antibiotics plus steroids along with Spiriva inhaler. Was due to take a spirometer test last week but the nurse

What are the withdrawal Symptoms
I am now on day 10. I am on Champix. I have found that I am having a lot of trouble sleeping, terrible leg and arm cramps (which I do get every now and then but now find I am getting them every night and they are worse) and having to get up during the night to go the loo. Are these all withdrawal symptoms

How do I climb out of this pit?
Was doing well, two years no anti depressants, when I take champix to quit smoking within weeks I feel nothing is right and I have all the nasty symptoms back but far worse than I can remember. If you are thinking of quitting in the new year, will you be going cold turkey or need Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help you ??
If you think you need NRT, then I think this may help you to understand which one you may need :) :) Emjay is one of our lovely quit support advisers, and she wrote this out to help :) Which NRT or other therapies do I have a choice of using? Asked by EmJay Roy Castle 11 Jun 2012

Re: 'new girl ... any advice.' Thanks loads
Hi Thanks for the many useful replies: yes I will take the symbicort as prescribed. As far as smoking goes, ironically I gave up completely about a month before I was diagnosed with COPD (I was coughing that badly, I used Champix, fantastic, it seemed really easy, I recommend it to anyone who is

3 weeks today
I managed to stop smoking tobacco for 3 weeks now. I started the process by using Champix which does work but did create a lot! of side effects such as really intense dreams, feeling a bit spaced out and an upset tummy. Not nauseous but not working properly. I stopped taking Champix about 3 days

Smoker to Triathlete: My bare all confession
Some of you may remember (back in August) reading the inspirational story of Michael Barnett. Michael gave up smoking earlier this year and then decided to to embark on a journey of raising his fitness levels and becoming a triathlete. http://quitsupport.healthunlocked.com/blogs/445981/From-A-Smoker-To-A-Triathlete-An-inspirational-tale

Champix > Champion
I have stopped smoking tobacco products on Monday 19 Nov 2012. I am on Champix and it feels easy to let go of smoking rollies. It's a bit like the voice in my head that nags to get a smoke has been turned off. I haven't been smoking fags in many years anyway but the ritual of making a rollie is something

Nearly W3R1-Podgy bloke running around South Birmingham
Things that I have found useful when running: a phone armband, Nike GPS app, running earphones, a water bottle that is shaped around my hand and a couple of tablets of
crampex
! The Nike GPS app is fantastic though and I can have it running whilst Laura is demanding I keep running!!

I feel I'll never be able to quit
Hi everyone. I've just found this site and thought I'd say a little about my problems. I've been trying to quit at times over 20 years and each time is less successful than the last. Cold turkey and I was climbing the wall and eating non-stop, knitted 2 sweaters inj 5 days (I can't knit) then back to

6 days off not smoking and £60.00 better off in my purse
Ive now not been smoking for 6 days and I'm really looking forward to saying I've not smoked for a week. I've saved 60.00 and can breath when I go to bed. It's not been a easy week although the champix tablets have helped, due to them making me feel that sick. I remind myself when unwant a ciggy how

A bit of a rant - sorry!
Hopefully will get on top of cramp again now as starting Qunine instead of my trusty old
Crampex
which isn't helping anymore! I dream of the day I don't have to use my ventolin; I'm beginning to wonder if this day will come?????
