I am considering starting Wellbutrin for ADHD. Didn't like Adderall side effects or concerta. Loved Vyvanse but it is very expensive. Interested to hear how people felt after just starting Wellbutrin.

Starting Wellbutrin
I do really well on Wellbutrin, and I take the generic (much cheaper and covered by my insurance. It took a while to find the right dosage, but once I did, it was like night and day. It really helped to slow my racing mind and lifted some of the foggy brain and actually gave me some energy! But it isn't a panacea. But it changed me enough that I noticed it. It takes a bit for the drug to accumulate, so you have to be patient and follow up with your doc if it's not working. They titrate up the doses because they want your body to adjust to it and they don't want to overdose you.
I, of course, can't guarantee it'll work the same for you, but it can't hurt to give it a try. Good luck!
I didn’t do well on any stimulant med. it raised my anxiety. My partner loves his vyvanse too. He wouldn’t be able to have it if he didn’t have both Medicaid and Medicare. With side effects, I would look into a gene sight test. That may help you find one that has less side effects with your particular genetics. It was helpful for my whole family.
I can no longer take stimulant medication for my ADHD due to heart and kidney problems (I’m on my 50’s). I take Wellbutrin and I like it. It certainly doesn’t do the trick to resolve my ADHD symptoms as well as the stimulants, but it definitely helps me with organization, focus, and impulse control. Hope this helps!
I take both. For me I need the stim meds to give me enough of a pause between my initial ADHD impulse and responding to this impulse. This is so important for me to be able to do something intentional instead of something compulsive. The wellbutrin I started long ago to help with chronic back pain but it worked so well that I I increased my dose to help with ADHD derived anxiety. The adderall starts and ends quickly but the wellbutrin takes much longer to be effective (for me). Hope this helps. Good luck.
I take Wellbutrin for depression, but it doesn't help me at all with ADHD symptoms.
