Probiotics and Coronavirus
Along with that I had a perforated bowel that resulted in a
colostomy
. I had the
colostomy
reversed (re-connected my plumbing) and to help with bowel activity I am taking some probiotics. Would these probiotics help to avoid the current virus?

I’ve got an appointment with a bowel specialist in May to talk through my options of surgery as it’s high risk I could end up with a
colostomy
bag for life. Very upset this is happening as I could just have to live with the chronic pain for life. Many thanks for any help or advice. Kerry 😊

Endometriosis,laparoscopic surgery
They did not remove the nodule because that part of the procedure my dr. hasn't done very many removals within the rectum and could of possibly left me ending with a
colostomy
bag for 6 months.

Kissing ovaries and obstructed ureter
My consultant said that I may need a
colostomy
bag after the operation, and he will have to put a stent in my ureter. However, this was before my renogram. I had a renogram on Friday, which I could see the scans on the screen next to me.

Crohn’s and Enteropathic Arthritis
Hi, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease following a bowel obstruction and Hemi colectomy in 1996. I was then diagnosed after many years of problems with my joints with enteropathic arthritis in 2016. I would be interested to hear about anybody else’s experience of this. Many thanks

Stoma? I’d advise you to wear abdominal support garments from the get go.
Having a stoma and using a
colostomy
bag is enough of a hassle to manage without the added difficulty of then having to manage a hernia and trying to prevent it from worsening. All the best. Lisa.xx

Colostomy bag chances?
What are the chances of having to have a
colostomy
bag with advanced endometriosis? Does anyone know? Has anyone needed to have one?

In focus: stomas - stoma surgery
As we outlined in the previous post in this series, there are two types of bowel stoma: an end ileostomy or
colostomy
and a loop
colostomy
or ileostomy. An end stoma is permanent.

Aborted robotic prostatectomy
On Dec 13, 2019, the procedure was aborted because seminal vesicles were involved and looked undefined, lymph node biopsy showed cancer, and location to rectum lead surgeon to believe
colostomy
might be necessary if he continued. New scans (bone and CT) showed no other metastasis.

If you have a
colostomy
and are irrigating while you are away, use bottled water if there is any doubt about the local tap water. If you would like to share your experience of travelling with a stoma, or if you have any tips on doing this, please comment on this post.

Skin care
I'm changing my
colostomy
bag twice a day and am finding that the skin on my tummy where the adhesive flanges stick is becoming sore and red with some signs of a rash starting. Applying cream seems to affect the 'stickiness' of the bag. How do others cope?

Newby with dietary questions
Hi, my
colostomy
and stoma is now 3 weeks old following an emergency procedure. Everything's fine so far and my diet is returning to normal. Having said that I find a lot of the advice online contradictory.
