Can anyone enlighten me as to wether on the new system I will lose my entitlement to DLA even though I need a full lung transplant, yet more stress off the government. if it is not hard enough for us all already.

not sure if you will lose your entitlement under new system .

how ever I too am waiting for a double lung transplant and I have been told that after op and recovery I will lose it as the idea of op is to give us a much better life so therefore we will then not be entitled unless we have other problems hope this helps your transplant team will let you know for sure take care Jackiex

After my kidney transplant I lost my DLA as I was considered cured for all intense and purposes, but because of being on immuno suppressants I have developed Bronchiectasis due to recurrent chest infections... I was we'll and able to get back to work for ten yrs after my transplant, it's only this past year I'm having difficulty but this doesn't apply to everyone who has a transplant, I think I was the runt of the litter lol xx

Call the BLF helpline on 03000 030 555. I am sure they will be able to enlighten you with relevant information about any changes. Auntymary xx

Hi, as far as I know, If after your lung transplant, you still need care during the day and or night time or you have any problems with your mobility, you shouldn't lose your D.L.A. You may get it reduced to the lower rate if your quality of life does improve in some way. I agree with coldcider make the call to the benefits helpline.
