Therapy vs Coaching
My 15 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD since 3rd grade. He is currently on vyvanse before school and adderal to assist with homework. He does well on tests but struggles in class due to not turning in homework. This has become a daily struggle. No behavioral issues either at home or school

When can you not get DBS?
If it was
cognitive
related, can you describe your particular
impairment
? Or if you just happen to be knowledgable about DBS (maybe your researched it) , can you share the reasons why people typically get denied?

Last day of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. So what happened?
I started on this course 9 weeks ago. I have changed for the better. It has not been an easy process for the majority of the course but I stuck with it and hey presto it has worked. I began with preset ideas that my cognitive issues found in my neuro-psychology assessment would be tackled and that would

Having trouble coming to psychological terms with a brain injury. How do you do it ?
Its now also thought that I probably had a very mild
cognitive
impairment
since the age of 13 (now 51) due to neuropsychiatric lupus (an immune disease where antibodies can attack any part of the body including the brain) which again - is fresh and slightly disturbing news.

Mindfulness based cognitive therapy update. Dreaming up lead balloons.
The course is very good, well structured and run by a psychoanalyst and a psychologist. It's not what I thought it would be and still hav'nt figured out what's going on. I am the only BI on the course. There are a number of exercises that we have learnt so far which includes focusing attention in a variety

Gaining weight without challenging your brain?
I have many signs of
cognitive
impairment
which makes me really keen to carry on with the 16 hour fast that I do on most days and to still stay with a keto diet. But I can't gain weight. I have lost 6 kgs in the last 8 months.

Diagnosed with MDD and GAD
I live with Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The Depression is under control, due to medication and other cognitive therapy. It has not been a problem for many years. The GAD on the other hand is not controlled. While not crippling, I have not found a treatment that works well for me. I'm

MS and mental health counseling.
I wrote about Cymbalta helping with mental health. But the other part of that is getting counseling. My new counselor does not get MS. She is using DBT. Anyone else have experience with that. It is a system of skills related to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that helps you change your thinking. But, it

Neural rewiring via mindfulness.
I attended an orientation meeting for a 'mindfulness based cognitive therapy' course last night. This is private and not available on the NHS, however the brain injury unit I'm a patient at highly recommends doing it. The cost is £260. The course was originally designed to change brain patterns for

Financial question, need advice!
Hi got my BI in July 2017. Lived of credit cards for a year before signing on for UC rent etc. Have been on UC for a year or so now and get rent (75%) paid and free council tax. This is nowhere near enough to cover my basic costs rent and bills etc before food and other life costs come into the equation

The hypnagogic state. Update to visual weirdness.
I have written a couple of posts on 'visual weirdness', I would like to post another update in case someone else is experiencing the same symptoms. I have PCS after a bang to the back of the head in an RTA. I have a very strong visual element to my condition. I have had optometry treatment, coloured
