My 15 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD since 3rd grade. He is currently on vyvanse before school and adderal to assist with homework. He does well on tests but struggles in class due to not turning in homework. This has become a daily struggle. No behavioral issues either at home or school. He does have some compulsive behaviors, walks up to 2 hours daily. He does not like taking medication. We began cognitive therapy but did not seem like the therapist was familiar with therapeutic interventions to assist with his issues. Has anyone tried coaching? He is open to either therapy or coaching as he is frustrated as well. Any advice would be appreciated. We do not have an IEP.

Therapy vs Coaching
Did you guys ever try occupational therapy? When we attended they worked a lot on putting things in order. Finding what worked and didn't to slow down the body to accomplish things. Might be worth a shot. In addition, if you guys aren't big on medications you may want to research broad spectrum micronutrients. They have worked wonders for our son. Wishing you the best!
Could the pacing be how he deals with anxiety?
OT is a huge help but idk if 15 is too old. I'd try and find another CBT therapist bc the one my 5 year old has been wonderful. They also have tons of planners designed for ADHD kids that help them break down tasks and keep better track of their homework. If he has a cell phone check out the Brilia app. You can put in routines with alarms and each task has it's own timer to keep you on task. It sounds like he just needs help with organizational type things?
