Dr. Mark Porter's B12 Times article
Further to deniseinmilden's post I decided to risk my credit card and subscribed to the free trial of The Times to get the article. Here it is, for better or for worse! There are a lot of comments, some of which he replies to, sadly I can't reproduce them here. But I think it's good news in terms of the

My B12 System
I still go with my neurological system in evaluating success. I am morphing into deciding on treatment for my B12 system which started when I abandoned the concept of adding one supplement at a time without taking into account they all work together and how and why they work together is unknown. A

MMA result
Hi allJust got medichecks result which shows high lMMA level: 34.8ug/l (less than 32) Previous medichecks active B12 was 48.1 pmol/l (37.5-150) (they advised MMA test) Intrinsic factor antibodies negative (mum had PA) Does high MMA result indicate a functional b12 deficiency as opposed to dietary deficiency

Pain after intercourse
First I would like to thank all the people in this community for providing excellent advice and encouragement. I had radiation and Lupron in 2020, and my PSA has been good. Unfortunately, in February 2022, I had to be hospitalized due to bleeding in my colon. After receiving a couple of units of blood

B12 Injections stopped as I do not meet crtieria.
Good morning I now have information to identify that; 1) the practice updated their process in November 2022 to " ensure only patients with P.A. receive B12 injections. 2) Blood tests in 2018 show low B12, but Intrinsic factor and celliac screen were negative. 3) GP Practice direct me to take

B12 / PA roller-coaster and further tests
Hi all - I'd really appreciate any support and advice you can all offer please as it's all got a bit too much today. I've been feeling unwell for a while now but I initially put the exhaustion, brain fog, migraines with visual auras etc down to going through a difficult few years personally and that

Hello, I'm 70 years old. Last week I had a vitamin B12 shot on Monday, and then on Tuesday I saw a hematologist because I wanted to rule out that I'm anemic. He ordered labs (they did them right there on site). A few minutes later, he said I was not anemic and was also probably not B12 deficient. (so

Recent results following increase in Levothyroxine dose.Anything of note?
HiFollowing advice on the forum I asked GP for screening for Vit D etc at my recent review of increased dose. I have generalised osteoarthritis and a family rich in autoimmune diseases. Please see my results. The only comment made by GP is that Vit D a bit low and to take over the counter supplement.

Thyroid levels advice for friend with newly dx Hashi and P.A please?
Hi, a friend has been supporting me in getting a Pernicious Anaemia diagnosis, as she also has it. She also has a recent Hashimoto's dx (like me, plus I'm hypothyroid too) but I've been trying to help her with it as it's all very new and overwhelming and she's been really ill with P.A for a long time

Am I really lacking B12?
I was diagnosed with PA around 2018, I had the camera down which confirmed atrophic gastritis, I had positive tests for anti parietal cells and intrinsic factor; so classic PA. My B12 levels were around 300 at the time and not considered low but i was given loading doses and monthly injections. However

Positive IFA, Negative Parietal Cell, B-12 injections affect IFA test
Hello, I recently tested positive for intrinsic factor blocking antibody but the result of my parietal cell antibody test was negative. I’m curious if other members have had this same experience? My doctors have suspected a PA diagnosis for several years. An IFA test about five years ago produced

Blood results
HiI'm just looking some advice on recent NHS b12 and folate results: B12 284 (197-779) Folate. 4.6 (3-26) Of course GP receptionist said all 'normal " on phone but I have asked for a print out of results and will pick them up tomorrow. I had asked my GP if I could be tested for intrinsic factor

Hi, I have just received my results, I took the blood test as I am experiencing symptoms which are not normal for me. PPI complications
I've now had my endoscopy. I wanted to find out what state my stomach was in after taking PPIs (Omeprazol) for over 5 years and an H2 Blocker for 15 years before that (the now withdrawn Ranitidine of carcinogenic fame). What the endoscopy revealed were fundic polyps which are 'accepted' as a standard

Vitamins
Hi allI posted here last week my vitamin test results from medichecks. My active B12 and folate were low so as per advice on the forum I have held off supplementing until my GP tests for pernicious anaemia. My mother had PA and I certainly do have some symptoms of B12 deficiency. I'm due to get my bloods
