IMRT side effects?
After a one month trial on Firmagon, switched to Eligard. Good so far; better with latter than former. Supposed to start IMRT in a couple of wks. 25 sessions. Followed by brachytherapy. Reactions to these procedures? Dos? Don'ts. Short term side effects? Long term? I want to know what to expect

Practical suggestions post EBRT and seeds
So, I know that radiation can knock one to the ground big time (continence, bowel, etc.). I start IMRT soon; followed by "booster" seeds shortly thereafter. To those of you who have been through this: what should I expect? what products have you used for continence and bowel "issues"? The thought

Leptomeningeal
The doctors today came in at the hospital and they are leaning towards leptomeningeal with my dad and I am crushed. That is the worst news I could have heard today. Please someone tell me this isn’t all bad! What do we do, where do we go if it is? I have to get his records to Moffitt quickly. It’s

ASTRO, ASCO, & AUA strongly endorse a shortened course of IMRT for primary therapy
They strongly endorsed moderate hypofractionation (20 or 26 treatments) but only conditionally endorsed SBRT because they didn't consider any data after 3/31/2017. I think SBRT will receive a strong endorsement by this time next year. There is no reason any patient should have to suffer through and pay

Book recommendation
I’ve been living with a cancer diagnosis since November 19, 2008. What a journey! Recently, the nurse for my oncologist at the Proton Center in Jacksonville, Fla., where I had 19 proton beam treatments, 18 IMRT radiation treatments, and 7 taxotere treatments from March -May 2009, called me. She said

Words, Abbreviations & Acronyms
As I read the posts here I am often overwhelmed by the acronyms, abbreviations, and drug names. I rarely know what they refer to. So I'm offering to compile a list of them not only for my own edification and understanding, but for others who might come here and be as confused as I am. So...here are

Correlation between start of Lupron and start of RT
in my case Eligard. RO seems adamant about starting IMRT right at the 2 month mark from my 6 month Eligard injection. I am not getting the reasoning. (plan on asking him next week) common sense would make one wonder, why not start RT at 4 months? 3months? Is PC more radio sensitive at 2 months than 4

Thanks to SO many wonderful people who helped fight Florida Blue, my dad received a phone call today while we were on our way for his first standard radiation appt and they overturned the 5 denials!!!!! Update. Let’s take John English’s fight for best treatment viral.
This will s the info you need to contact the CEO. PLEASE take a moment and send him an email. —————— Please help this patient get the treatment he needs. His name is John W. English. He has lung cancer with SVC. His doctor ordered proton therapy because it’s safest. Florida Blue refused saying

IMRT denied final time today + Abraxane, Carboplatin, Keytruda question
I figured I would do a brand new update post in one spot. To update on my dad’s insurance denial, the external review for IMRT on his chest tumor that is wrapped around the SVC of his heart was denied today as well. This was the final appeal we had and now have no more. To say I feel defeated is an understatement
