Has anyone's child had hoarseness on clenil modulite (or other steroid inhaler) despite using a spacer, rinsing and brushing teeth after?

Yes, but for me it was seretide. I am also not a child any more! I also did all the right things - checked the inhaler technique, rinsing, etc. The Asthma nurse changed me to Fostair and things are slowly improving. I've no idea why so it would be a good idea to discuss it with your asthma nurse, or the nurse at AsthmaUK.

Thank you. Yes I messaged asthma .uk already and they just advised the spacer, rinsing etc so don't know what else to try.

I do find rinsing my mouth and garling with mild salt water seems better than water on its own.

Does your child have rhinitis? (Runny nose). This can cause hoarseness as it drips down the back of the throat.

At the start of may he started with hoarseness and then developed a runny nose, sneezing and cough that turned into croup. I've been giving him antihistamines daily since then and he doesn't have any rhinitis symptoms now just the hoarseness. He started sounding hoarse about a mth after starting the clenil last year on and off.

You could get your GP to check his throat to make sure he hasn't got an infection. If necessary, as it hasn't cleared up they could take a swab so that they give the right treatment if needed.
