Correlation between start of Lupron and start of RT

in my case Eligard. RO seems adamant about starting IMRT right at the 2 month mark from my 6 month Eligard injection. I am not getting the reasoning. (plan on asking him next week) common sense would make one wonder, why not start RT at 4 months? 3months? Is PC more radio sensitive at 2 months than 4? supposed to start Nov 1. Ed

They did a randomized clinical trial several years ago where some men got 2 months of neoadjuvant hormone therapy, and some men got 6 months. It made no difference. The radio-sensitization provided by the ADT is maximal at 2 months. You can go for longer, but unless you are trying to heal from incontinence after prostatectomy, there is no point in doing so. Most men prefer as short a stint on ADT as possible.

ok when my psa went to 5.7 had a biopsy 7 out of 12. then got a lupron/eliguard shot after 3 months then was asked surgery or radiation and went with radiation. about 3 yrs later went on pills until it wouldn't hold then zytiga and others. just finished PROVENGE after tomorrow. hopefully can find more zytiga and will continue it until something else comes around. been 10 yrs now.
