Does anyone know what 63% fev1 means?
I have had a chest X-ray showing emphysemic changes and just had a spirometer test. Results show fev1 at 63%. I am a 50 year old female at 5.5ft. I smoked since 14 but have given up multiple times including now. The doctor said I am on the border between mild and moderate but he didn't se too sure

It’s been a few months of ups & downs since I posted my first blog on here. At that time I’d just been referred onto the Rheumy department & was full of uncertainty as to if I had RA or not. Sods law on the day of my 1st appointment everything had settled down & apart from a few aches I had nothing

Two ex-rays and the go ahead with Etanercept (Enbrel) .......
Hi all, I had my appointment with Clinical Nurse this morning at 9.30 ( me, in a car at 8.30 in the morning, that was a feat in its-self !) My das 28 score was 6.2 this morning and with my last one being 6.1 I've past that part of the criterior. All my blood results are clear, which is good to know

Oh dear...
Yesterday - roll ups = 2, Gill = 0. Therefore not good at all. Off for Chest X-ray today, maybe that might knock some sense into me. I saw an article on here from one of the advisors - it was Very interesting. All about the addiction of Acetaldehyde in tobacco, this too helps keep us addicted seemingly

Peak flow ok but still bad?
Is peak flow the only indicator of asthma severity? Wife is in hospital at the moment. Apparently, peak flow is OK but she's been ill for several months now. Consultant is completely useless and says its virus or recovery from asthma attack.... Hospital already done chest x-ray and just done CT to

Reading about your experiences has helped me to stay calm during a scary time and its really reassuring

Advice needed please.
Hi everyone, I'm new here but not new to thyroid problems. I went to see a gp yesterday for meds review and to mention a slight swelling in my throat. I knew he'd say it was a goitre but was shocked when he said I had the eye swelling signs as I'd not noticed this. He seemed to think I am suffering

Qvar question
Qvar question When I went to the chemist to collect my prescription of Qvar last week the pharmacist took me aside and asked me to come into another room - and asked me if I knew that Qvar is a steroid and how do I use it and how often do I use it ! I was most taken aback and wondered if anyone else

I'm limted inn what pain relief I can take as I'm also

Unexpected aches and pains
I was first diagnosed with PBC about 6 years ago and put on Urso. I'd originally gone to the doctor asking for a health check because my ex partner had died of pancreatitis and our two daughters were left devastated and I realised then I had to be responsible and make sure I stayed healthy to stick around
