Worried about my mum 😔
My mum had a chest x ray 2 weeks ago after having 2 colds / chest infections in 2 months. Her Gp called her the next working day and told her she has a 3cm "mass" in her upper right lobe which could be a granuloma but he was concerned so referred her on a fast track for ct scan. She had the ct with contrast

I am male, 45, slim and underweight (genetically) but otherwise WAS fit, fast and active. Not on any medication. Normal blood pressure, no other condition, nothing. I don't smoke. I had sub acute thyroiditis in November 2105. Had pain in my neck which I knew was not a usual sore throat. Diagnosed in

Mild COPD
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read my post & for the information you gave in your replies. I had an appointment today at the Respiratory Medicine Clinic. My lung function results were about the same as they were in April, so I suppose that's good news?? They had forgotten to order a chest

Hello, I'm an active 67 year old male who gave up smoking 10 years ago. I got a cough which wouldn't go away so had a chest X-ray which showed a small left pleural effusion. I've has CT and PET scans and a bronchoscopy, but no official diagnosis. Today is my appointment to find out what the future holds

Is it really COPD?
I had one lung function test where my FEV1 was 46 and then another test where my FEV1 was 75? Isn't an FEV1 of 75 still considered to be mild COPD? I don't know if I took the first test right, but how can these values be so off? I also have a severely reduced FVC and a very low DLCO. I Had signs of hyperinflation

COPD query
Hi all need some advice, earlier this year my GP wondered if I had COPD at all as my spirometry test was reading better than the year before, so I asked the appropriate question which of course was well if it isn't that what was it, my better half at this point added that on an x-ray that I had done

VIRUS OR CHEST INFECTION?
Hi everyone, I am having a rough patch at the moment. Have been having increasing pain in my joints for the last month and two weeks ago developed an annoying cough which worsened last week and I also have a terrible constant headache. I was unable to get an appointment with the Doctor last week even

Digonosis of fibromyalgia today
I received a phone call on Thursday to attend clinic today, been waiting since August. The consultant asked about my symptoms and then did a quick examination of all my sore spots, she was asking about my dry eyes and ibs. That was it very quick, gave me a helpful leaflet and a lot of the fibromyalgia

Have see a locum consultant on Sunday. He told me stop taking Lefludomid straight away as my blood pressure is very high. He examined me, read my history and says I am a candidate for biological treatment. He then arranged for me to have a steroid injection. I then returned to the hospital Tuesday

Just got a diagnosis of COPD - New to BLF -
Hi All Having googled COAD I now know it is the same as COPD. to give a little history, I gave up smoking 17 years ago and took up running about 4-5 months ago (have run/walked 4 x 5k park runs to date) However on one of my training runs after my first 5k I found I was struggling to take deep breaths

Persistent AF II ...
Just a quick update as everyone was so kind when I posted previously and some people wanted to know how I got on. This afternoon my GP phoned me and advised me to go to A&E since the extra dose of Diltiazem wasn't helping. It's been nine days now since this all started. A&E did an ECG and then sent

Hi everyone, I hope your day is behaving itself! I was here a couple of weeks ago introducing myself as possibly having COPD. I had a GP appointment this morning... Repeat chest X-ray is clear. Doc is wondering if I am post viral though I don't remember having any signs or symptoms of a chest virus.

Chest pain.... still
After about a week of center chest, left arm, left shoulder and left sided neck pain I went to the urgent care. They did an EKG and a chest x-ray both of which were normal. Does anyone have any idea if this should be a reassurance that these pains aren't heart related?

Hi
Hi All, Diagnosed with late on set asthma at 60. Prior to this had been told my upper respiratory congestion was due to post nasal drip. But things got worse, climbing hills, any rapid change of pace etc. I am a survivor of breast cancer in my 40s, when I had lots of chemo and radio therapy to left side

Improvement on spirometry - Is it possible?
Since I found out my chest x-ray showed emphysema (on oct 31, a Halloween to remember I guess) I've been reading anything and everything about it. A few nights ago I saw a post where someone said their spirometry had improved. Now I can't remember what site it was on but I'm curious if others have experienced
