I paid for full bloods having stopped B12, B comp and Vit D. The aim was to check for anaemia and have an active B12 test?
Based on previous blood tests posted, I wanted to have active B12 test. St Thomas' Hospital confirmed I needed to stop supplementing for 4 weeks. So as a pre active B12 I decided to stop my vitamin D3 too and pay for an essentials blood test as it is nearly a year since I was last tested and my GP

its not easy but stick at it
with years of different "diets and fad meal plans" it has taken a change of how I view things to make the changes work. Now I have always been a large person 25st at my heaviest (i'm 6'2") but i have always been active, always played in all the teams for schools and uni and on top of that an active

I have battled for over 3 years to lower my cholesterol by changing my diet with no statins and up until March this year it has repeatedly remained at 6.7. I had my latest result today and in just 5 months all my hard work has finally worked as my numbers are:- Total = 5.6. HDL = 2.3. LDL = 2.9 and

Should I Finally get my Head out of the Cholesterol Sand?
Just recovering from the shock of my latest blood results, TC is about the highest its ever been 8.7 with LDL of 6.2. Getting the results from a reluctant receptionist was like playing "Play your Cards Right", well can you tell me if it's above 7....no higher, above 8..no higher. I digress. For the last

"Food Facts and Fiction - The Great British Diet". Friday 16 August, ITV 1.
I wondered if anyone else saw this program on Friday? It was an interesting look at what's in our food and how much it can affect us. One of the items looked at how it may not be the amount of calories we eat that causes us weight and health problems, but the kind of food we get our calories from.

Thyroxine and cholesterol. Have I got the balance right???
I have been arguing with my Doctor, always keen to put me on statins, to raise my Thyroxin to address my higher cholesterol levels. He succumbed and put me up to 100mcg Thyroxin. The latest bloods show a reduced TSH 0.05 in the range 0.15-4.0 (it was 1.68 in Feb 2013) and a reduced cholesterol of

Ideal cholesterol levels?
10 years ago, a cholesterol level of just over 5. was considered ideal, now iv`e read that doctors want want levels to be under 4. Why is this?, & is this new level really the ideal? It`s very confusing.

What to do next?? more of a relationship with surgery receptionist than G.P!! Latest bloods results.
Ok so my second set of blood results came back last week my TSH is 4.13(0.35-5) and my T4 is 15.5(11-23). these I think are fairly good after only being on 50mg daily of levothyroxine for 6 weeks. I've also had another set of other bloods which my G.P requested when she diagnosed me. she said at the

High cholesterol, what to do?
My last blood test showed a level of 6.5, too high, I know. I tried statins for a couple of months, but they made me so tired & achy that I couldn`t function on them. I don`t have any other risk factors for heart disease, but my gp has been putting pressure on me to go back on them. I can`t face that
