"Underlying conditions" with AF, but I don't have one...
(While waiting 3 months for a follow-up from a
cardioversion
that lasted only 3 days) I've been reading a book by two US cardiologists (I'm in the UK) which states that AF is often or even typically caused by underlying conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

Nightmare with(out) flecainide. Cannot get help from NHS.
I am sure I was told previously that
cardioversion
(flecainide as a PIP is chemical
cardioversion
) could not be performed after 48hrs in fib, so I was afraid to take the flecainide, especially because I had taken the metoprolol separately and didn't want to risk OD'ing on metoprolol if I took another

Cardioversion number 1, back to normal SR.
I had the
cardioversion
on 8th March. Apparently it only needed one attempt to achieve NSR. The consultant said it needed 100 joules which is a power figure. I was quite tired for about 5 days, lots of naps. Felt like my heart was a bit fragile.

Flecainide weird side effects
I’m taking flecainide to prepare for the
cardioversion
. I’m in persistent afib with heart rate rage usually 70-90. I started to take 50mg yesterday for two times a day and I felt straight away hot, pins and needles in my hands and feet.

Grumbling oesophagus?
Several days ago I had general anaesthetic for the first time (
cardioversion
). It was all fine, but I soon noticed a grumbling oesophagus -- first when I put in earplugs on the morning after (noisy neighbour).

Second Cardioversion this Sunday - a brief essay on hope
Hope is a funny thing and looking on the bright side sometimes feels like hard work! So despite staying in NSR for only a week first time around, the EP must think I’m in there with a chance. Somehow, perhaps magically, taking amiodorone in the run-up could make a difference. We’ll see. The amiodorone

Arrhythmia after open heart surgery - any others with similiar experiences?
I've had electrical
cardioversion
mentioned to me a few times which feels like they're prepping the ground for such a procedure, but I'm worried it won't work and I'll be back and forward to hospital forever trying to get fixed.

PVC Ablation.
Good morning you lovely lot, got a call out of the blue last Monday asking if I could come to the Brompton for an ablation for my pvcs on the 18th. So here I am post pvc ablation, it kicked my af off which took four cardioversions to stop, perhaps another af ablation on the way, who knows , happy Christmas

Disappointing Kardia readings
I was first diagnosed with af in January 2021 and have undergone 2 cardioversions and three ablations. It’s now 5 weeks since I had my third ablation which my EP described as an ‘extensive and prolonged’ procedure. It’s taken me a lot longer to recover this time. I’ve been exhausted, nauseous and

watchman device implant
I’m scheduled for ablation #2 in February, at which time I’ve decided on a Watchman implant during the procedure. My reasons? I want off of anticoagulants. They carry their own risks of bleeding and even hemorrhagic stroke, plus require limiting changes in an active lifestyle, and are not a permanent

Atrial fibrillation -left in limbo
It’s the third time I’ve had AF in the last 10 years, the previous bouts were treated with
cardioversion
. I ended up in A&E (again) and was put onto beta blockers, they have brought down the heart rate, but the abnormal rhythm continues.

Ablation next month
I was told that I won't be given anything to induce AF on the day (I'm in normal sinus rhythm and have been since a
cardioversion
last summer). It will be a general anaesthetic with cryo balloon ablation and an automatic booking for a second go should I go back into AF.

Slow Breathing Practice
A week later while hospitalized for rapid afib as I was about to go for a
cardioversion
, I walked to the bathroom doing deep breathing, I went into sustained vtach, vfib and cardiac arrest.

Proper Drug for My Wife and Efficacy of an Ablation
Again, electro
cardioversion
was attempted, but this time it failed. She was admitted to the hospital to receive Tikosyn. The drug got her out of AFib but caused an unacceptable prolongation of her QT interval and was stopped. She was sent home with a prescription for Amioderone, 200 md/day.

Recovery from Third Ablation
After being in NSR for over 40 weeks, in August this year I suddenly and inexplicably reverted to af. As a result, I underwent my third ablation with toe under general anaesthetic 10 days ago. It was a longer procedure this time and included 3 cardioversions and my EP assured me that he had checked

Ablation for atrial flutter - advice?
I had
cardioversion
last week, which worked straight away, but the consultant is strongly recommending ablation to ensure it doesn't recur.

How to get out of AF advice please
Following the first
cardioversion
, I remained in normal rhythm for 12 weeks before slipping back into AF, which persisted until the second Cv. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to get back into a normal rhythm.
