I had the cardioversion on 8th March. Apparently it only needed one attempt to achieve NSR. The consultant said it needed 100 joules which is a power figure. I was quite tired for about 5 days, lots of naps. Felt like my heart was a bit fragile. The heart rate went down to a steady 60 bpm from a quite variable rhythm before the procedure. The systolic BP has been trending up since the 8th March but the diastolic is fairly constant: around 90. The average for a month is 143/93. I haven't exercised much at all since the 8th March but went for a 25 km bike ride today and felt like I was on 4 cylinders rather than three!I'm on a calcium channel blocker Lercanidipine which does have side effects but not as bad as Amlodipine which I was taking until late February. Has anyone found that these drugs do actually lower their BP? The side effects of Amlodipine made me wonder why any doctor would prescribe such a drug.

Yes, I have found the drugs you mention lower BP.Like yourself I found Amlopodine side effects to be severe, but worse with Lercanidipine.
Now on Losartan for 10 months, side effects not as bad.
