Sorry it's been so long since I have posted. I asked a question the last time and didn't do anything about it as my doctor said I was fine, but as time goes on you start to question these doctors and question medications, and question some kidney pain and so on...
So I decided to buy some of those Rapide test strips that your pee on because my doctor never recommended a urinalysis and I have been wondering if there has been anything wrong. Well, it shows Creatinine very high, some protein, but no Micro Albumin, 1.015 Specific Gravity , PH level is 6.5 and it looks like 5.0 for Calcium. How do I go about telling my doctor that I bought these tests and it looks like there might be an issue?

Hi Kookoo, great name..... why did you think to do the self test? If you thought there was something wrong, and you brought it to the doctor, and they dismissed you without doing labs, then you need a new doctor. I would go back to the doctor and say, I want a renal panel done along with a basic metabolic draw and see what comes up. Then go over the labs together. If they refuse..... get another doctor.
I am not familiar with these strips. But I am confused. It checks for Creatinine levels in your urine? And you say it is high. Isn't that good?? One of the purposes of the kidney is to remove the Creatinine from your blood. So isn't having it in the urine a sign it is doing its job? Now you say there might be an issue??? What issue? Your gravity level is normal, so is your ph. All urine contains some protein. Where is your issue??
My GFR level was reported last year at 70, I am a 34 year old with no HBP or diabetes. I do have migraines so I take a Topamax and Ajovy along with anti-depressants and anxiety. But I no longer take NSAIDS due to the GFR number and they really mess up my stomach. I decided to get the strips to monitor any proteins or bilrubin and calciums in Urine since I have actually never had any Urine tests done along with that Metabolic blood test done last year. I was prescribed 3 different antibiotics these last three months along with dexamethasone so yes my kidneys are constantly a concern for me. The test are are
I would call your doctor, tell him you are concerned with some symptoms you are having and request a Urinalysis. If the Urinalysis comes back good, then monitor. If it doesn't I would demand a renal panel be done. If your doctor disagrees, it is time to doctor shop.
