Vitamin K2 supplementation while on Warfarin

Hello,

With ever more research proving the link between low vitamin D and heightened risk of all manner of diseases and illnesses, what do those of you do about the need to take vitamin K2 when supplementing Vitamin D3 while on Warfarin?

Vitamin D3 ensures that calcium is absorbed easily and K2 (MK-7) activates the protein, osteocalcin, which integrates calcium into bone. Without D3 and K2, calcium cannot do its job effectively. Vitamin K2 (MK-7) activates matrix GLA protein (MGP) to bind excess calcium and promote arterial flow and flexibility.

Hi gazaeee, While I was on warfarin, I was advised to take both Vitamins D and K in an effort to get a stable INR. I never did get a stable INR, but the vitamin did bring my Vitamin D reading up to a healthier level. I watched my food intake diligently, but still had wild swings in the INR readings. What I take has D, and all three forms of K. I am no longer on warfarin (I take apixiban) but I've stayed on the vitamins. Good luck to you!
