I was diagnosed with heart failure in 2022, and was fitted with a CRT-P. I take all the usual medications, Dapagliflozin, Atorvastatin, Perindroprol, Bisoporol. At my last blood test I was found to have very low calcium levels. The doctor sent a prescription for a calcium supplement to be taken for 2 months then book another blood test. Now I have had another test and have received a text telling me to STOP the Perindroprol, and book a blood test in 2 weeks. I thought Perindroprol was for blood pressure, and thought the blood test was to check the calcium level. I have phoned the surgery, they couldn’t tell me anything. I can’t even book the test yet. Does anyone know why, and can they know my blood pressure with a blood test.

Stopping Perindroprol

Sounds like you are being fobbed off by the GP surgery to me, because they can't be bothered to find out. Someone there must know, in particular the GP who issued the instruction. So I suggest you go back to your GP surgery and ask for an explanation and clarification of the instruction. It's your health that's in question not someone employed by the surgery and its only right and proper that you should be querying an instruction that may not make sense under the circumstances, and it's their job to help. And if nothing is forthcoming, put your question in writing, and/or complain to the practice manager. I have complained to my GP practice on the past and its amazing how quickly they can resolve something they had earlier seemed to ignore.
I can't help you with information, but is there anything useful on the leaflet that comes with the medication? I am just on bisoprolol for high blood pressure. Your pharmacist might be another source of information.
They cannot tell you your BP with a blood test. Go see the gp and clarify with him/her
Perindopril is an ace inhibitor which does lower your blood pressure. I was on it, then off it, then an arrthymia nurse said I should be on it as "an ace inhibitor is good for your heart health' but he couldn't or wouldn't tell me in what way. So then I was on it again but it dropped my BP too low so I'm off it again.I would think the blood test is to check your calcium, and maybe other things too.
If you are concerned about your BP going high ask your GP surgery if you can borrow a monitor if you don't have one, so you can record your BP levels.
It wouldn't hurt to get an appointment with your GP or a clinical pharmacist to discuss your worries about stopping it.
Hi
I can't help you with information as I never have been on Perindroprol.
Have been on Dapagliflozin but was discontinued because of side effects. Wishing you all the best.
Perindopril would most commonly be prescribed to treat high blood pressure. When taking it you should have annual blood tests to test liver function, kidney function etc. You have been having these tests and it looks, to me, as though the medics want to see how your blood tests look when NOT taking perindopril. You’re in the middle of that process now. They are not diagnosing your blood pressure through blood tests but rather they are assessing possible side effects. Contact your GP for confirmation if you are worried.
