Does NDT have any real health benefits compared to a synthetic combo?
It's often said (on the STTM and other pro-NDT sites) that NDT is the closest thing to what the human thyroid makes when healthy, and that the other hormones in it - T1, T2, and
calcitonin
- have additional benefits. T2 especially is said to have fat-burning properties.

Someone asked about Low Dose Naltrexone.
the CGRP receptor. So basically I think it blocks
Calcitonin
reception.Because I am taking so many things it is hard to know what is and isn't helping.

GRAVES AND THYROTOXICOSIS : SKELETON AND CALCIUM METABOLISM
Bone turnover can be reduced by pamidronate and by
calcitonin
, which may therefore have a useful role in reducing thyrotoxicosis-induced osteopenia [320-321]. Two exceptional cases have been reported with coincident thyrotoxicosis and hypercalcemia with elevated PTH levels.

calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) - for autoimmune migraine?
calcitonin
gene-related peptide (CGRP - is a new antibody based migraine treatment. But I wondered if anyone of you out there, on the same thyroid, migraine, autoimmune journey, might already have some view/info you can share. I have had Hashimotos for a long time, diagnosed early 30’s.

Content of Armour Thyroid
The contents said nothing about T2, T1 and
calcitonin
the supposed extra ingredients of this NDT. The other concerning thing about this is that those ingredients are in the human ratio and not the pig ratio.

She dismissed T1,T2 and
calcitonin
saying it wasn’t necessarily there except in trace amounts...any thoughts please? Xx

calcitonin
was 4,000 post op was 4 and the doctors told me that this was great news. I think I'm still in shock after my diagnosis and surgery, but hoping to get in contact with some people with the same condition as it's very rare.

Upped EFRA thyroid tsh ft3 and ft4 all decreased
I believe I convert t4 to T3 well from synthroid but also want the
calcitonin
, T1 and T2 provided by the EFRA. Has anyone tried this? I know I don't find many people who feel like I do. My saliva cortisol has been treated, my bit.

Have you got osteopenia?
I have been on NDT since last year, which contains
calcitonin
, a protective chemical against osteoporosis. Does this mean my osteopenia will not get any worse, or may even reverse? Or am I stuck with it.

Does anyone know about "Thyrovanz"?
But in the FAQs it says it cannot give ratios of T1, T2, T3, T4 &
calcitonin
because it is a natural product and amounts have not been established. It comes in 50,100,150 & 300mg doses I'd be interested to know what people with a bit more experience than me think.

How serious is thyroid cancer?
Medullary thyroid cancer starts in thyroid cells called C cells, which create the hormone
calcitonin
. Hoisted levels of
calcitonin
in the blood can demonstrate medullary thyroid cancer at an early stage.

Saw 2nd Endo Today
These are the tests: 1. thyroid (TSH, FT3, T3 UPTAKE, FT4, Anti-TPO, Anti-TBG,
Calcitonin
), 2. VitD25-OH and B-12 Dr said both were low last time and are probably responsible for a lot of the symptoms I've been experiencing.

I've recently read a bit about this and it is produced in humans in the thyroid gland. As mine has been destroyed by RAI does this mean it is replaced in the levothyroxine we take or are we left without any?

Warfarin plus vitamin K2 (MK4 and MK7)
MK$ activates
calcitonin
.
calcitonin
is produced in the bones and when activated by MK$ draws calcium into the bones. The problem!!!!!!!!!!!!! Warfarin causes this to stop because you are told not to take vitamin K.

Why does ferritin have to be high for NDT but not for Thyroxine?
I have been on Thyroxine for years but want to try Nature Throid, as I think it might be better for me, as it contains
calcitonin
. However, I have noticed that lots of people here suggest getting Ferritin levels at least 70 before starting. I have low Ferritin, and just below mid B12.

NDT vs synthetic combo drugs
NDT also contains T1, T2, and
calcitonin
. But are those really important? If so, could they be easily obtained by taking any of the OTC products available (Nutrimeds etc) for a fraction of the cost of prescription NDT...?
