I'm new to this forum and was diagnosed with Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma in early July. Later that month I underwent a total neck dissection, thyroidectomy and had 53 lymph nodes removed. Pre op calcitonin was 4,000 post op was 4 and the doctors told me that this was great news.
I think I'm still in shock after my diagnosis and surgery, but hoping to get in contact with some people with the same condition as it's very rare. I'd also like some help understanding test results and also what I should be checking for and also trying to regulate the thyroid medication, at present I'm taking 125mg of Eltroxin daily.
Bye for now and thanks in advance

Hello Delilah, Very sorry to hear of your diagnosis and treatment but it sounds like it's been successful and your calcium is ok now so that's good news. I hope there are others on this forum that have had medulary cancer and can encourage you because as you say it's rare. People on this forum can help with thyroid test results if you want to post them. Post TSH, FT4 and FT3 (if it's been done). Mention the amount of levothyroxine you are on and your target TSH level if you've been told what it should be by your doctors. Remember to include laboratory ranges along with blood test results.
You could also post any vitamin blood tests although you would need to check with your doctor about supplementing. When you've had thyroid cancer of any kind you might need to be cautious about encouraging cell growth. I'm not sure even the doctors know much about it - there's probably not much research been done. I think most of us just aim to feel well and have the best quality of life possible.
