Issues post shoulder surgery
Sorry long post: Hi everyone, this post is not really a PMR/GCA issue although I do have PMR. You are such a supportive group and I’m wondering whether anyone else has experienced what I’m currently going through. Just over 4 weeks ago I had extensive arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery (using a nerve

Anticoagulant switching
There have been a few post recently about pressure to switch from apixaban to other anticoagulants. I’ve been on apixaban for a number of years now and so far not been asked to change. However my 92 year old father in law, who has chronic kidney problems, has just been given edoxaban instead of his

Elevated markers
I’ve had metastatic disease for four years after a single tumor in sternum. I’ve been NED since then on Ibrance and Letrozole. On my most recent labs, both CA 15-3 and CEA are elevated 50% above normal. I’ll have a PET scan Tuesday but can anyone weigh in on - are these numbers high or not?

ILC: Double Mastectomy-all breast tissue removed - Pathology showed positive margins.
My wife was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma in April. HR/PR positive (95%) Ki67-12%, HER2 1+ Negative. Oncotype test indicated or confirmed IV chemo would not be effect based of her ILC composition. Due to the size of the tumors she was put on Ibrance and Letrozole to help shrink the tumors

angiogram
Has anyone had to stop their apixaban for an angiogram. I understand because of bleeding, but when I went to have my pre op assessment the nurse didn’t know. She "thought" I had to stop the apixaban for 2 days prior and take aspirin 75 instead. I have tried to get on to the hospital, but always answerphone

new diagnosis advice on blood thinners please
I had my diagnosis only 4 days ago after an echocardiogram. I was prescribed Apixaban 5mg twice a day which are making me feel incredibly ill so I haven’t taken today’s dose. I intend to ring my surgery Monday morning to ask if there’s another medication blood thinner I could take instead with less

Ibrance & Lung Health
I am wondering if anyone has experienced shortness of breath/lung problems taking Ibrance plus Letrozole as a treatment for lung cancer. I know adverse lung effects can be a side effect in a very small percentage of those taking Ibrance.

Ibrance and the tongue
Do others have issues with sores n the the tongue while on Ibrance? I just started 2 weeks ago and doing the 5/2 schedule. Noticed a spot on my tongue yesterday that wasn’t there before. It’s not sore yet but looks suspicious.

Error with meds
Hi. I forgot to take my meds yesterday morning. Didn't realise until I felt strange and was about to take my evening meds at 10.30pm. So I took morning meds. I now need to take meds again in order to bring back to morning dose over two days. I am fine taking flecainide and blood thinner since I take

Hello, Recently diagnosed with afib, cardiologist prescribed blood thinner and metoprolol 50mg daily. Now, my BP is 120/80 , my resting heart rate is 55, and the frequency of my afib is every 8 to 10 days, I know this is a question for my cardiologist but I would like to know from the experience of

Color hair while it is thinning
Hi Ladies and Gents. Hair has been thinning on Ibrance and Letrozole and I have tried to preserve it a bit by not doing my regular highlights. It just looks so drab and I feel like a need a lift and highlights might do it. Has anyone noticed whether your hair thins more with coloring/highlights?

Palpitations at night
I had a third ablation nearly three weeks ago and am in sinus rhythm, but I'm having trouble sleeping because of an uncomfortable thumping heart when I go to bed, that keeps me awake for a while, though it's OK in the mornings. After the ablation my consultant told me to halve my Bisoprolol dose,

Ibrance and Letrozole not working
I have just finished my 3rd round. My CA 15-3 went up 8.1 points to 38.1 and my CEA went up 4.2 to 14.9. I just had a CT that they said was fine except for more lung nodules but an X-ray for hip pain showed growth. What do I do now?

Are Anticoagulants necessary?
I was diagnosed with PAF over two years ago following two episodes of fast AF which lasted for less than six hours. I was given IV Metoprolol in A&E and discharged on Bisoprolol 1.25mg daily. I have been well and active since but my cardiologist is keen for me to take anticoagulants as my CHADsVASc

when to reduce apixaban dosage?
I am being monitored for kidney deterioration on a regular basis because of taking 5mg x 2 daily Apixaban. My latest blood test showed they are deteriorating slowly and am now in stage 2. I am nearly 80, and under 7stone 9. I feel as if I am between a rock and a hard place. I really really don’t
