Interesting report on the efficacy of IMRT on prostate cancer
An 8-year study comparing the results of various cancer treatments concluded that IMRT is equal to or in some cases superior to other treatments such as
brachytherapy
and surgery.

Rising PSA 18 months post LD Brachytherapy
I had low dose
brachytherapy
radiation (permanent seed) implants over 18 months ago and the lowest my initial post brachy PSA was .6 and it was .7 for about 6 months now it went up to 1.1. I stop eating meat and my alcohol consumption is a beer or two over the weekend at MOST.

Surgery, SBRT or brachytherapy?
I've spoken to surgeons and a radiation oncologist, and have read studies and the Walsh book. I've succeeded thoroughly confusing myself. Has anyone been down a similar path and can suggest how you decided on one treatment over another? Or is it just a case of "picking my poison" as suggested by

Need input on ADT, Brachytherapy, etc.
Hi folks. I have a diagnosis of 3+4 with PSA of 21. I am on the fence and cannot decide which treatment to get. My doctor wants me to get the ADT (hormone therapy) to shrink the prostate so we can then do Brachy "seeds'. My family wants me to get it out with surgery. I have locally spoken to 3-4 men

MULTITUDINOUSLY MOTIVATED MESSAGE FOR THE MAGNIFICENT MONTH OF MAY
Well, my treatment, which involved
brachytherapy
(internal radiotherapy), hormone therapy and external beam radiotherapy, is now ended and all the signs are that the cancer has been blitzed and that my body is returning to normal.

PSA 3.12 after 3/17 radical prostatectomy. Future treatment thoughts?
Note I chose da Vinci surgery because
brachytherapy
would have damaged my Medtronic insulin pump. I am diabetic. Thanks in advance!

Been 18 months since brachytherapy and radiation. Everything was fine. Then the burning started. And my pee pattern changed dramatically.

HDR Brachytherapy and PSA numbers (what to expect)
I go back to the RO for my first 3 month check up in May 2020. Is there a rule of thumb on what kind of drop in PSA to expect or look for? peace

HDR Brachytherapy at UCLA
I had my 2 procedures of HDR
Brachytherapy
(monotherapy) on 2-7-20 & 2-14-20. I had some really bad burning during urination for about 2 weeks, but the Pyridium saved me. I was also prescribed Flomax for one month, which was a big help.

Does radiation/brachytherapy prevent my use of insulin pump, which radiation can damage?
If I eventually need radiation or
brachytherapy
, would this impact the use of my insulin pump? In other words, how far from a radioactive
brachytherapy
seed does radiation travel after it is implanted? Or does beam radiation “linger” in my body as radiation after treatment? How far?

Secondary Cancer?
IMRT,
Brachytherapy
, ADT, Provenge. Recently a mass near the ureter, 4.2cm was seen on a Ct scan. Needle biopsy; carcinoma w/squamous differential. Maybe a secondary cancer, possibly caused by excessive radiation. Getting a second review of slides. Anyone with comments or questions appreciated.

metastatic cancer in the omentum and lungs
Treatment for this was a hysterectomy,chemo/
brachytherapy
. The treatment is the same as ovarian cancer, hence my post. This morning I had the devastating news that I now have cancer in the lungs & omentum. There will be an MDT meeting next Wednesday to decide a course of action.
