Did your treatment fail? The only reason to find a medical oncologist is if you have advanced PC - that's what they specialize in.
Hopefully, the HDR Brachytherapy (monotherapy) that I received in February worked. Guess I'm jumping the gun a little bit...
One downside of radiotherapy is that it takes a long time to know if it was successful. It took me 3-4 years until I reached nadir.
I had the first of two sessions of HDR Brachytherapy (Monotherapy) on 2-7-2020 and my PSA was 3.4. I just had my PSA checked after 2 months and it's (0.8). I go back to UCLA for my 3 month follow up on May 18 and will get another PSA test. My highest PSA was 5.3 on 4-2019. Not sure of what to make of the fast drop in PSA.
ocman: If your RO was Dr Chang at UCLA, he typically refers to Dr Scholz in Marina Del Ray. I use him, but he is very aggressive in his ideas for advanced PCa treatment.
If you like guys who think out of the box a bit then prostate oncology specialists. Drs Scholz, Lam and Turner. Awesome. If you prefer solid SOC but never anything without clinical proof, the dr Drakaki at ucla is great. I see her for second opinions. She actually emails me back with answers to any questions. Sometimes late at night.

I concur on Dr. Scholz. I been using him since my HDR at UCLA in May of 2017
Lots of good pca docs out in the LA area.
