Heart rate tracker anomalies
Hi everyone, I'm getting quite anxious due to my Fitbit reporting strange peaks in my heart rate. This was 4:37 this morning, and back to 70bpm 3 mins later. I slept through this so have no idea if it's accurate. Yesterday it said my heart was 187bpm while I was walking briskly to meet someone for lunch

Dilated Cardiomyopathy/ Heart Transplant
I was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy in November 2022 after suffering shortness of breath and always being tired and breathless. I quickly deteriorated and when I went back to see my Cardiologist in January I was told I was now critical and needed to be admitted and put on the urgent transplant

Open heart surgery
After my cardiology review midweek I’m being booked in for an angiogram and it’s been suggested I will be considered for an aortic valve replacement in the next couple of months. It seems the fact I get breathless on exertion and my valve is only 25% of the diameter it should be puts me close to the

What is a realistic fitness goal?
Hello all, this is my first post. I have had 3 previous heart operations for a repair of truncus arteriosus when I was 13 days old, 8 years old and 27 years old. What is a reasonable, sustainable long-term fitness goal given this background? I can share more details about where I am now if asked. Thank

Low fodmap foods and seasonings
My husband has (hypo) thyroid disorder and gluten sensitivity. He's been trying low fodmap, which is fine unless you enjoy using garlic and onion to season, which we do. I'm hoping someone can suggest flavorful alternatives...

Nailfold infection
I have my second nailfold infection in 2 months - it is proving difficult to resolve and a few days ago a telangectasia bled profusely for no reason. Is this connected to my Systemic Sclerosis or just a coincident. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Oh no, I don't want this 😭
Hi, I've had a heart monitor fitted since beginning of June this year. The specialist says I've had a couple of 150+ HR events, and one event of no heartbeat for 3 seconds. My resting HR is often 37bpm, blood pressure is just about perfect 120/80. I don't get out of breath, though can get low blood sugar

Afib Stroke Risk Lower in those that take Statins
Statin use is usually associated with a reduction of cholesterol and heart attacks, but a new study also shows an important additional benefit -- a significant reduction in strokes and TIA's in the Afib population. Something to discuss with your doctor if you're not already on statins, especially

Can anyone help?
I have purchased some Deep Heat muscle rub thinking it would help my aches and pains, but on the leaflet enclosed it states that people taking anticoagulants should not use it owing to the ingredients interacting with this medication. I take Warfarin. Does anyone know if there is a safe lubricant that

Urinary control and biking
I had an RP over a dozen years ago, with severe incontinence afterwards; I had a male sling inserted eventually and it has helped tremendously--not perfect, and perfect wasn't promised, but tremendously, and I'm grateful. I have biked all my life for transportation and leisure/exercise, but no longer

Calf Pain and PAD
Hi, I wasn't sure if this should be posted in a Diabetes forum or on here, after thinking about it I think that this BHF site is the better option. So Peripheral Arterial Disease. I had both Iliac Arteries 'bored' out with balloon angioplasty in May of this year (Left leg fully occulted and Right leg

Overdosing bisoprolol- can anyone offer advice?
I don’t know whether it is where I live ( the NW) but I really struggle to get appropriate treatment. Anyway I picked up my meds on Saturday. Opened them in the car and noticed my bisoprolol was suddenly in 5 mg tablets not 2.5 mg. I went back into the pharmacy to be told that I have been on 5 mg tablets
