Tysabri for me
After my diagnosis only the ABC drugs—avonex,
betaseron
and copaxone—were available and I had intolerable symptoms. My doctor recommended Tysabri which was new at the time and it was recommended to be used only—not in combination with any other interferon or MS drug.

New Here, but 30-ish Years with MS
It was long enough ago that I was in the lottery to go on
Betaseron
. I turned it down the first time, and took it the next time my number was called. I didn't stay on it long as I had a true allergic reaction. I've sampled a couple of the other DMTs.

3 Oct 2023 Sleep issue solved so far I think
I started long ago on
Betaseron
\betaferon. Interferon beta 1b and I have the scarring to prove it. The wife likes to tease me about all the lumps in my butt. No soft fat for her to pinch. Ahh well this is life with a chronic incurable disease.

I have the scaring from years on
Betaseron
to remind me of that. So that is your first step. Wipe away the tears, remind your Neurologist that it is “YOU” that have the disease and “YOU” want the strongest medicine, Ocruvus regardless of side effects which there will be..

New to ms the first week of many weeks
The ONLY medicine available at the time was Interferon Beta 1b,
Betaseron
or Betaferon depending where “YOU are in the world, and I was an absolute coward when It comes to needles and they asked for one every other day. Well eventually I pulled my head In gritted my teeth and did it.

I put up with headaches, painful injections and a basic feeling of crap for years on interferon Beta 1B(
Betaseron
). Even worse for my month on Rebif Interferon Beta 1A. None on Tecfidera, and it is a tablet so no needles. Yaay as I have a needle phobia.

Vaccines FYI
For example, Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and
Betaseron
don't prevent you from building immunity, and they don't make you more likely to become sick from any vaccines.

Question 1
When drugs were available it was
betaseron
on lottery. Waited until choices were ABC. Chose A. On it until 3years ago. Suddenly the every 2 yr followup showed multiple new lesions. No idea when during the 2 years or if gradual or sudden. No new symptoms.

Immune system problems
I was on
Betaseron
for several years, then switched to Tecfidera, but my liver function numbers were not good. I then switched to Copaxone. I am currently taking nothing. My white blood cell count is low. My blood platlet count is low.

Do you see the possibilities around "YOU"?
Interferon Beta 1b
Betaseron
or Betaferon depending on where"YOU" were in the world. Same stuff different names, marketing issues I guess. The next year I believe Avonex then Copaxone came along.

a very short statement
I can still remember the procedure for
Betaseron
injections from 10 years ago. I know where in the fridge space has to be made, bottom left corner midway back nothing in front so they are always seen.

Just the facts, nothing but the facts
Silly but is a coping mechanism Just like DMT (Disease Modifying Therapy) or ABC’s (Avonex
Betaseron
\Betaferon. Copaxone) or Tec (Tecfidra) is. Make things smaller easier to handle and come to terms with. I do not start at 150 kilogram (300 pounds) weight at the gym.

Relax, take a deep breath
My blood test gentleman knows how much I appreciate him and the two ladies that used to inject me with
Betaseron
\feron know how appreciative I am of them. I have mentioned that I am a true baby when it comes to needles haven't I? We all have ms in some form. Do not let it destroy "YOU".

What RRms requires of you.
I intensely dislike needles, but back in the day, Interferon Beta 1b (
Betaseron
) was the only Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) available. So my choice was to suck it up or... and or was not really an option. Two of my strong women in my life quickly vetoed that option.

I do not understand
There are so many medicines available to "YOU", I just had "B"
Betaseron
, then for years the A B C's. I was so happy when Tecfidera came on the market. No more every other day needle in my bony and lumpy butt. There has never been much fat anywhere else.

Newbies part 2
I just had
Betaseron
back when I started.
Betaseron
or
Betaseron
Doing nothing or just waiting and seeing was never an option and it should not be for "YOU" either. If somebody suggests that "YOU" just "give it awhile, just wait and see" ignore them.

I am not a Doctor of any sort.
I did
Betaseron
for many years and we all know my fear of needles, but today in 2018 there are far more options available than I ever had, so start. Cry be upset, but take your medicine for the rest of your life.

it has come to my attention
Having been strongly suggested that I should take
Betaseron
has turned out to be the smartest move I ever made. That can be read as given no choice by Mother and Grandmother, I was at their place in the beginning.
