Steroids and Radium 223
Hi Hopefully my husband will start Radium 223 in 4-6 weeks. He recently stopped abiraterone after 5 months as his PSA was doubling every month. While he was on abiraterone he was taking 2mgs of dexamethasone, although 1mg for the last month. He’s currently taking 6mgs of prednisilone but our question

Ultimate Update
Dear All, My beautiful "Biobro" departed this world on Monday. He never had pain from his extensive bone mets, and in the last weeks was on low doses of ibuprofen and gabapentin. He ended up on hospice which I would not recommend as they were essentially indifferent and incompetent. I took

Good News Update on my Joe
This Friday Joe will get his 4th dose of Pluvicto. His PSA dropped from 7.69 last month to 4.88 this month. He experiences fatigue, which is remedied by dexamethasone on the days he has something he wants to do. Otherwise, he sleeps. No other side effects worth mentioning at this time. I asked for

looking for reassurance or advice
Hello warriors, After exactly 2 years of happily dropping PSA numbers on triplet therapy, my husbands PSA went up this month from .91. To .94 I know MO will say to wait for 3 months of rising PSA before we should panic, but that’s easy for him to say… looking for reassurance as we wait for next months

Temozolomide Side Effects
My dad is on his 2nd cycle of TMZ (300mg)5 days on, 3 weeks off regime. He had GBM located on his left frontal lobe but due to size and depth could not be operated on. Therefore he had 3 weeks of radiotherapy along with 155mg daily TMZ. He has poor speech and his right arm is paralysed. However this

Lepto meningeal involvement. No further treatment. Palliative radiation?
Spouse 10 weeks post Pluvicto and about to embark on a Hail Mary trial of androgen receptor degrader. But yesterday's brain MRI showed spread to dura and leptomeninges. So my lovely light and love of my life is coming to the end of the road we have walked, too briefly, together. Oncologist has already

Could this be the start of neuropathy?
I had my first Docetaxel infusion 6 days ago. Due to the Dexamethasone before and the Prednisone since, I have been really well. In the gym most days, and eating really well. I have had no side effects - until today. It's a minor thing, but both thumbs are a little sore. It's not a tingling sensation

Drug side effects
Last month I went from prediabetic to hitting 300 due to the Dexamethasone I've been having to take for my chemo treatments. My oncologist put me on metformin & it brought my level down, but now I've been in & out of the ER. Once with intestinal issues, once with chronic diarrhea & shortness of breath

Similarities/difference with Waldenstroms? ?
I actually have Waldenstroms macroglobulinemia with associated fairly severe neuropathy. I read somewhere it's very similar to CLL with similar or same treatments?Fully diagnosed about 2 years ago, now apparently backdated to 2016 when the monoclonal peak was discovered. Treatments tried; Dexamethasone

BP with abiraterone + prednisone, eplerenone, dexamethasone
I have been on Lupron and abiraterone with (initially) prednisone for 4.5 years, which has maintained my PSA at <0.1 since 111 at diagnosis. I have all the usual side effects. One that doesn't bother me day-to-day, but definitely concerns me, is hypertension. Before PCa, I had moderately high BP, which

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga. Yea

BAD NEWS
If you followed my recent post, you'll remember that I was ecstatic to have had a consultation with the team at Royal Marsden Cancer Clinic, where I was told that my PET scan of June, my PSA of June (4.4) and my overall good health meant that they felt I needed nothing more than dexamethasone and there

Low Doses of Dexamethasone as monotherapy in mCRPC

Update after consultation w/Royal Marsden
I promised I would address some requests for information following my consultation with Prof. Johan de Bono and his team at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The trigger was a marginally raised PSA (now 4.4) and some evidence on more bone mets, failing Enzalutamide and being offered a course of chemo (which

Coming off Naproxen safely?
Hi After 3 doses of Radium 223, my pain and general core strength seems to be improving after a rocky start. I'm also taking low dose Dexamethasone. I'd like to come off Naproxen gently and just take Paracetamol. I'm taking 2 x500 mg a day after meals. I'd be grateful for any experience or advice

Atrial fibrillation after steroids
Has anyone experienced atrial fibrillation after starting steroids? 4 years ago I had steroid injections in both knees, and less than 48 hours later suddenly went into persistent rapid AF, having no previous history of it. I found some Dutch research that found new atrial fibrillation was more common

Prednislone and Anxiety
I've been reducing from 20mg pred since November 2022, currently on 11mg. Since Christmas I have had episodes of extreme anxiety, depression, mood swings and tearfulness. My Rheumy this morning suggested swapping to Betamethasone which does not cross the blood/brain barrier. However, when I researched
