Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Thalidomide / Lenalidomide (Revlimid)
This post was triggered by Dale's post: "Leibowitz Protocol". "Dr. Bob" may have moved on during the intervening 10 years, but I was intrigued by his use of Thalidomide & Lenalidomide to inhibit angiogenesis. Tumors cannot outgrow their blood supply unless they make extensions to existing blood vessel

Not sure how to interpret results of new tests
Labs both late or missed PSA this time around. First time tested T and DHT. Look like good results to me, but don't have any experience with them so thought I would throw them out her and see if I am evaluating them right. DHT--<5 L T, total,LC/MS/MS ---7L Due for next Lupron shot Monday. Adding Xtandi

CRPC & Avodart [Dutasteride].
New study below. Some may recall that I'm in favor of shutting off all escape paths while on ADT - e.g. via Zytiga, Casodex, Simvastatin & Avodart. If you are closing the door, close the windows too. The conventional view is that since 5alpha-reductase converts testosterone [T] to dihtdrotestosterone

1 week after taking Methotrexate
For the last two months I was on Dexamethasone 4mg and was able to be normal. I could walk, run and even use my hands as before. It was a normal Christmas and New Year. However, my Rheumatologist took me of them. Slowly my RA returned and I am back to square one...with serve joint pains in the hands

New Rheumatologist, but where to now??
I have been reading with great interest whisperits last post on his visit to the sleep consultant and also Twitchy's last CTD appointment. Both just show basically what a mess we are all in with regards to treatment and help as we fall helplessly between all specialities. It is the rare medic who sticks

I'm new and looking for advice on coping emotionally with a very large lump on my neck.
Hello all, Over a year ago, I developed an egg-sized lump on the side of my neck which has since grown to be bigger than a grapefruit protruding from my neck and collarbone. I've seen a specialist who said it was a harmless post-traumatic seroma from a very minor sports injury and I've since had an unsuccessful

Hi all This may be a long post as it's been a stressful few days! I am interested to hear of anyone's experience of brain mets? What were the symptoms? My mum who has stage 4 Adenocarcinoma was admitted to hospital on Saturday with confusion and incontinence. She had seemed a bit unwell throughout last

how do you fast before Chemo? I have a drug to take that requires food with it "DEXAMETHASONE" ~~
I told my doctor...that I was going to fast at least 36 hours before and also the day of my chemo and he said it wasn't necessary. I've read so much including from the NIH about how good it is for best results. My question is...I have been given a pill to take 12 hours before and 3 hours before(the dexamethasone

Sleep
Just want share a positive thought ,I am now on 2mg of Dexamethasone daily and slept last night for a whole 51/2hours .Feeling like a human being at last .Sleep is so important when you are unwell and steroids that supposedly make you better do not allow you access to sleep, how you are meant to feel

Low cortisol and TSH
Hi everyone. This is my first post as I have felt too unwell to go into it all until now. I'm afraid it is quite a saga but here goes... In November last year I started feeling really unwell and getting fevers all the time. The fevers have now gone. I now get a stinging pain going through my back, abdomen

Baseline scan
Well, baseline internal ultrasound has been done today. Apparently the endometrium is quite thin and the nurse manager who performed the scan was very pleased by the way my body has responded to the Buserelin. I now get to start injecting not one but two injections per night as well as the reduced dosage

Prednisone to Dexamethasone
Hi, I have posted only one time before when I was running fevers every night on Prednisone. My Rheumy put me on Dexamethasone and the fevers left. Since she is just coming into her Practice, I suppose she has had little to do with PMR. Have an appt. with a Seasoned Rheumy in 2 weeks. Even my regular

Cortisol test advice wanted
Hi, I have a cortisol blood test booked for Wednesday morning and the GP has prescribed a low dose of dexamethasone to be taken at midnight before the test. Apparently this will avoid any stressors in the morning affecting my result. He mentioned this as a test for Cushing's which I think is high cortisol

Confused and frustrated
I emailed my clinic to ask for clarification for the 20th of September when I am due to attend my baseline scan and start my stim protocol. Up till now I have injected 0.5ml/50iu Buserelin every morning. According to the timetable, I am due to reduce to 0.2ml/20iu dosage plus start the dexamethasone
