Practical suggestions for PWP. Drooling. Runny nose.

For drooling you can use a few eyedrops that contain atropine, put 3-4 drops in a cup of water and swish it in your mouth then spit it out especially before bed if nighttime drooling is a problem. For runny nose put a couple drops of atropine eye drops on a q-tip and swab your nose.

Dementia and drooling

Doctor prescribed atropine drops under his tongue which I find hard to administrate . Sometimes these drops make him very drowsy maybe too many drops . He did have patches behind his ears but seemed to cause more confusion . Does anyone have success with this ? Thank you

Life after TURP

During the operation it was noted that I had bradycardia and was given a shot of atropine to increase heart rate. A subsequent 24 hour monitor showed the condition was not serious but I now take Pradaxa, an anti coagulant, and have an appointment with cardiologist next week.

Belladonna

Atropine derived from Belladonna can be used for Bradycardia - very low heart rate, and also to stop respiratory secretions before surgery, and urinary frequency but only under medical supervision apparently and can be used as an antidote to some illegal drugs - you learn something new every day.

Cryo ablation of AF -under sedation

Then procedure was complicated by 1, a profound vasovagal episode requiring atropine and RV pacing. 2, severe pain during procedure 3, agitation causing ablation kit to move during procedure - 30 min continuous Echo surveillance ensured no pericardia effusion. The ablation partially completed.

Excess Mucous

The Neurologist has given him Atropine drops which helped initially but their affect has now worn off. The Neuro has now suggested Botox injections. Has anyone had success with these injections? Thank you so much for this forum, it has been so helpful for us.

Atropine....saliva management

Hi All, Wondered if anyone had used Atropine eye drops as a way of sometimes managing the build up of saliva? J has a number of tissues to hand at all times in an attempt to manage saliva escaping her mouth. I'd heard that eyedrops containing Atropine can act to dry the mouth.

Botox vs atropine

I have been recommended to have botox injections into my saliva glands in order to control my drooling but last week I was unable to swallow any food after taking 4 drops of atropine under my tongue. Has anyone got experience of botox injections ?

Excessive Salvia

Hi has anyone had experience of using 1% atropine eye drops for excessive saliva? Doc is suggesting Hyocine patches but I think the side effects maybe worse than the drooling. My dad has only recently been diagnosed so any advice would be welcomed. Thank you

A dignified journey

Just before Christmas he was put on atropine in the hope that this would help the dribbling, which was annoying for him and embarrassing. Atropine caused dad trouble almost immediately. He began to hallucinate and had a terrible time for a few days.

What dose of Flecainide were others given for chemical cardioversion?

A met call was made and I was given atropine and adrenaline Intravenously as my HR was between 12 and 20 beats per min and my BP was 60/ 0 , as you can imagine I was slipping away. Thankfully those drugs brought me round and I was still in sinus rhythm. It was extremely frightening.

Well, you don’t look ill.

I was diagnosed in 1989 at the age of 24 after repeated Uveitis episodes resulting in an Atropine injection in my eyeball and 3 weeks later steroid in what looked like a spider sack under my eye.

Venesections

The response was rapid and excellent: oxygen, atropine (be sure to look this up: belladonna, with very marked side-effects) and off to A & E for the rest of the day. Two new words: bradycardia and vasovagal. I seem OK today, DG. Peter

Unable to clear mucus from throat

I have heard that travel sickness patches can help dry up mucus and also atropine drops. Has anyone tried these or can advise. He is coughing all the time night and day.

Bradycardia - had enough, going round in circles

I am a 37 year old Mum and have had suffered from episodes for years, ranging from needing atropine to boost me after a procedure, to excessive yawning, greyness, sweating and hairs standing up on my arms. Family say I can so pale I look grey.
