Botox vs atropine

I have been recommended to have botox injections into my saliva glands in order to control my drooling but last week I was unable to swallow any food after taking 4 drops of atropine under my tongue. Has anyone got experience of botox injections ?

I have low saliva but have a tendency to drool at times due to reduced muscle tone in my lips. So drooling is not necessarily due to excess saliva.

i have added botox to my regime for generalized dystonic events along my spine. i also requested apomorphine injections , not morphine, being certified to administer medications in 2 states helps me be more effective with my regime as well.......i have managed medication admin and dosing, titrating correctly etc for 13 years and up to 200 patients.. im not exactly completely naive to the permutations and combinations of large numbers of meds in a persons particular position. I have not had botox for salivary glands but heard it works well. Cheers.

77 yo male PD 5 years - RYtray 1 1/2 - initially had 2 rounds of Botox 2 years ago - seemed to help - switched to Rytray and haven;'t had since - however, I am feeling the need (at times) and will take a dose in 1 month. no bad effects either time.

My husband had good results with Scopolamine patches for excess saliva. He did get botox in the salivary glands, but I don't think that it helped him much. I think that the doctor has to be very good at injecting it in the right spot and I'm not sure that his doctor was very experienced with it. He also used the Atropine drops, but by that time, he had a feeding tube in his stomach because he has such a hard time with swallowing anything including excess saliva, so we were trying to control and reduce the amount of saliva.

Hope this information helps.
