Life after TURP

Hi all

I refer to previous post asking about TURP. I had my TURP in August and have not had any serious pain and the flow is much better. I still do not have full control of my bladder, with bending lifting and to some extent walking causing leakage which is contained very well with Tena 3 pads. I continue with Kegel exercises when I remember.

I was given an epidural, but I remember nothing of the operation. During the operation it was noted that I had bradycardia and was given a shot of atropine to increase heart rate. A subsequent 24 hour monitor showed the condition was not serious but I now take Pradaxa, an anti coagulant, and have an appointment with cardiologist next week.

I had a meeting with my urologist earlier this month. The most worrying problem which was revealed on biopsy of bladder wall is that I have Pca in my bladder.. I had not heard of this before and was shocked when I heard and did not ask the right questions to find out more. She said she would discuss it with colleagues and I have another appointment in 2 weeks time. Otherwise PSA reduced from 15 to 12 . I feel good with no pain at present.

Has any one here had it sprad to the bladder? What are likely treatments? Prognosis? I would appreciate any information as a basis for discussion in 2 weeks time

Mine spread to the bladder with bleeding and no pain. Radiation cleared it up with no side effects.

What you say is very encouraging. I also have a little bleeding maybe 2/3 times a week right at the start of peeing but then clears. No pain. Thank you for your reply.

You should talk to a radiation oncologist about treatment of the bladder. After a sufficient wait after your TURP, they may be able to treat it. But they do have to wait a while.

I had it spread to the bladder wall and my Doc cut it out when doing the TURP.
