Alternatives to Warfarin?
Hi all, My surgery was cancelled just before the lockdown and I've just been given a new date. It's been a tough few months for us all. I've been told that, along with a repair for a thoracic aortic aneurysm, that my aortic valve needs replacing and the surgeon has strongly recommended that I go mechanical

In cell studies, seaweed extract outperforms remdesivir in blocking COVID-19 virus.
In a test of antiviral effectiveness against the virus that causes COVID-19, an extract from edible seaweeds substantially outperformed remdesivir, the current standard antiviral used to combat the disease. Heparin, a common blood thinner, and a heparin variant stripped of its anticoagulant properties

Shall I go for ablation??
Hi All New to the site and wanted a bit of information and advice. Been diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in October last year. Went private and seen a electoral physiologist ( i think that's what they're called) had a chat and he put me on flecanide as a pill in pocket and talked-about ablation

Prolonged APTT but negative Lupus anticoagulant
Is it normal for patients with APS, but negative Lupus anticoagulant, to have slightly prolonged APTT 42.2 sec (normal range: 25.9-36.6 sec) with normal INR 1.10;

different ablation experience
After 5 yrs a Pace and ablate also a PVI I have ended up at square one with another clot in my heart. This was stunning as I have taken Apixiban for the last 3 years. My EP has changed my anticoagulant to Dabigatron and plans a repeat TOE on 2 months time. One of the options that he has mentioned that

Morning Clots
I have asked about them at the warfarin clinic and asked others who are on
anticoagulants
but no one else has them and the clinic have said they have never come across this before. My next appointment with Haematology is not until 8th July. I was just wondering has anyone else had this "problem"

Problems with taking blood thinners
I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation about 3 weeks ago after over 3 years visiting endless doctors and specialists with a range of diagnoses. My specialist put me on Eliquis 2 weeks ago, but the side effects were horrendous. I had constant pain and aches throughout my body, especially in my shoulders

Does anyone know if we’re more at risk or as we take
anticoagulants
less at risk of serious complications? Should we now be shielding? My GP has sent a letter 9 weeks ago to say I’m in the “at risk” group and haven’t been able to go to work as I can’t social distance. Any advice would be great.

Coming off Apixaban
Hello I had an AFib episode at the end of February this year that took me to AE and lasted about 6 hrs. Consultant asked me to take blood thinners for 4 months and I am due to come off them this week. Do I just stop taking them? Or should I ween down over a few days? The instruction came in a letter

London Lupus Centre help please
Hi can anyone help? Last year I was under Natasha Jordan privately at the London Lupus Centre at London Bridge after 2 positive Lupus Anticoagulant results (only 7 weeks apart though so no firm diagnosis) but she suspected autoimmune disease from my symptoms and blood results and She put me on hydroxychloroquine

Are Blood Thinners Overprescribed?
According to this score she ought to be taking
anticoagulants
. So, the question is, should she REALLY be on Blood Thinners, that is, will benefits outweigh risks of being on blood thinner in her case? Thank you kindly.

AF and Surgery
What happens if you have AF controlled by tablets and for any reason need an operation and anasthesia I was reading on intent you can have a bigger risk of clots and stroke. The
anticoagulants
help minimise it but then you could bleed excessive. any comments

Strange Development
Good morning all, it's a lovely day on Englands south coast and the sun is shining. Getting to my question, I need advice please. Newly diagnosed in early May with PMR. Put on Pred 15mg all symptoms and pain disappeared the following day. Felt great and after 3 weeks tapered to 12.5mg. No issues. Further

CoQ10 and blood thinners
Hi everyone I watched a Dr.Sinatra interview and he said CoQ10, Carnitine and Omega 3s were great for the heart but I read somewhere that CoQ10 can interfere with anti coagulants? Anyone taking both?

I had a heart attack on the 11/6 this year. And have heart failure with function of 37%.
I’m taking Bisoprol and Ramipral and 3 blood thinners. I’m getting very tired. And my blood pressure is between 95-105/70 and a plus between 50-70. Is it normal to be tired and is there any foods anyone can recommend. Thank u in advance x
