Do you take an anti-coagulant?
If you take an anticoagulant, you should participate in this study. This survey should no take longer than five minutes to complete. We have heard from many patients who have had their medication changed without understanding the reason. This survey is to help us better understand how we can improve

Are Anticoagulants necessary?
I have been well and active since but my cardiologist is keen for me to take
anticoagulants
as my CHADsVASc score is 3 - being a woman, over 70 and with a history of hypertension.

To cochlear implant or not to cochlear implant?
I am new to this site. I'm 38, married, with three kids (ages 6, 4, and 9mo. Just before Christmas 2022 I started to get sick. It became so unbearable that I went to the ER on Christmas Eve where they gave me fluids and did a blood test. They said my white blood cell count was abnormally high and I should

Refusal to continue Warfarin prescription
I’m in the UK. I received a letter yesterday from my GP to say that I would be given no more Warfarin. I checked online and yes, I can reorder my other meds but not Warfarin. I should be reordering today for collection on Friday. Apparently, I am ‘too complex’ and Addenbrookes will monitor my APS

Stopping medications
Hello everyone! Long story short, last May I had an episode of atrial flutter and I had to do a cardioversion. After that, I was put on bisoprolol and rivoraxoban but unfortunately I got a lot of terrible side effects. The bisoprolol made me really exhausted and I gained 7kilos of fluids. The rivoraxoban

afib/svt
I had ablation for svt around 7 years ago and then cryoablation for afib 6 years ago. I am taking both a blood thinner and a small dose of beta blocker While I have felt an occasional off beat it wasn’t until Friday that I entered tachycardia of around 109. I had not taken the beta blocker the night

EDIT: Ok...surgery done..Seroma/hematoma? at pacemaker site. Pocket revision
Went back to former (ablation) surgeon. He took me immediately because had cancelation. Saw this lump, bumped someone from surgery next day and operated next morning. Very infected, removed pacemaker. In hospital to see if infection responds. Another pacemaker will be installed asap. they are waiting

Esomeprasole
It's my understanding that taking
anticoagulants
contribute to this but also taking proton pump inhibitors also has an effect . I have been on Esomeprasol for 12 months now , previous to that I was on lanzoprasol for many years due to severe acid reflux .

Covid and INR
I know a lot of you on this forum take the newer
anticoagulants
but my cardiologist wants to keep me on Warfarin. It’s a couple of weeks since my last INR and my next one is a week away and I am a little anxious that the number is creeping up.

Complete change over in GPs is causing problems
I'm already on
anticoagulants
!! They wont do any good says she. I said so the cardiac specialist who told me I'm 5xs higher risk of a stroke due to my heart condition is wrong then? She went silent. I'll put it down as a refusal. It's already been recorded that said I.

Anticoagulant switching
There have been a few post recently about pressure to switch from apixaban to other
anticoagulants
. I’ve been on apixaban for a number of years now and so far not been asked to change.

Stopping anticoagulation for Left gastric artery embolisation (LGAE) for weight loss trial
So I would really like to take part in this trial but I am worried about the dangers of stopping the
anticoagulants
. Also when I had a cardio angiogram - I was not required to stop the
anticoagulants
( but I was on warfarin at the time and can’t remember if my INR was low).

Colonoscopy side effects
I had a colonoscopy earlier this week . I learned on friday that it showed i had collagenous colitis. i will be prescribed steroids. Since the colonoscopy i have developed horrific lower back pain which conventional pain killers don’t help. Can’t take anti inflammatory drugs as on blood thinners.

IVIG after heart surgery and stopping IBRUTIMIB
12 months ago I was on an Ibrutinib clinical trial for my CLL. Ibrutinib worked great for me for years. I found out I needed a triple bypass due to 95% LAD artery blockage. Not good! A stent wasn’t an option in my case due to necessity for blood thinners. Can’t do blood thinners, aspirin and Irbutinib

My echocardiogram showed a structurally normal heart. A bit of good news. Ct angiogram via NHS now booked by EP.
He also noted that I was equally terrified of a stroke as I was from a bleed from the
anticoagulants
. He suggested my CHADvasc was 0 and that i had low risks of stroke and higher risk of bleed and didn’t need to be on an anticoagulant.

Preparing for a ' discussion!'
