Casodex after castration resistance?
After being undetectable on mono HT (Zoladex) for 67 months my dad's PSA started climbing in December 2022. In March it was 0.05. His testosterone level also rose from 0.6 to 1.2. The doctor recommended to add Casodex. After a month, in April his PSA was 0.024 and testosterone was 0.9. I have two questions

PSA doubled, MO has had little input
is it normal for your oncologist to be very vague? my dads oncologist doesn’t often tell us much or explain things throughly. Any information I get is through reading the scans. Usually my dad gets his scans done a week prior to his appointment with the MO and the blood test the same day. This means

Metformin: crpc why continue
Hi last PSA 8.1 with psadt of 1.5 months so waiting for inevitable crpc news. Wondering why I should continue with Metformin which has caused me b12 malabsoption problems. Would love to stop but probably will continue minimum dose that could have heart and kidney benefits as highlighted in the following

Firmagon Injection gone bad!
Husband got his first hormone injection yesterday to begin treatment which will include 45 Radiation Therapy sessions. He got the first shot, everything seemed ok, got the second shot and BP dropped like a rock. Could not wake him up. They called 911 took him to the hospital. He is home and doing OK

Back on ADT
Restarted ADT 3/15/23 with my Lupron shot followed quickly with Xtandi 160mg daily. My PSA peaked to 3.36 on 3/7/23 and then 4/3/23 1.65 5/1/23 .34 So hoping the trend continues downward. Not sure if a slow or quick drop is better on recurrence. My RO said, when asked, "lower is better". Its getting

I just began the Eclipse Clinical Trial and will be posting my experiences here. Please share yours too.
I live in Southern California, but applied for acceptance into the Eclipse Trial in Miami Florida. The criteria was that I had to be castrate resistant and failed at first generation ADT, as well as second generation ADT. Plus that I had to have a minimum PSA of 2.0 with two consecutive rises one week

hope this helps others
in 2004 I had my yearly physical at work and Dr said my PSA was rising and I should see my urologist. Saw urologist who gave me a DRE and d didn’t think much of it and thought I might be an infection and gave me some antibiotics to take. Btw, had just turned 51. Next year has the work physical and again

PSA after surgery
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer on September 2022 with a Gleason score of 8 and my PSA was 35. I had my prostate removed along with all of the lymph nodes in January of this year. The pathology shows no signs of cancer in all of the lymph nodes, but had invaded my seminal vesicle and had spread

Eclipse Trial Update - Lutetium-Lu 177
Just received lab results from my 2nd dose of Lu177, 2 weeks ago. My PSA dropped from 2.0 to 0.3. Had CT and Bone scans done, at the same time, and they show healing and no new mets. My 3rd dose will be 5-31-23. So far my only side effects, I think, were some appetite suppression and constipation

Phase II 2020-0200 Clinical Trial
Hello everyone, I was diagnosed in May 2021 at 50 years old. PSA 426/Gleason 8. Had been on Abiraterone Acetate (AA) along with Lupron and Prednisone. My PSA dropped to 0.1 until recently I became castrate resistant. I was advised by my team at MD Anderson that my cancer was a strong variant type.

Rising PSA...again..
In December 2017 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a biopsy. I ignored the symptoms for many years and it cost me. In February 2018 I had surgery to remove my prostate hoping that would cure me, PSA never went to 0. By December 2019 I was alarmed enough to start ADT with Elegard and in February

Laboratory test variance or ?
5 weeks ago I had asked my own physician for a 3 month post radiotherapy PSA and Testosterone done - the PSA was 0.01 and the Testosterone was 0.6nmol/L (17.3ng/dL) - which I felt happy with and seemed good. A week later I had a bad 12 week implant that bled and bruised badly and I could then feel

Clinical biomarker-based biological aging and risk of cancer in the UK Biobank
A largely Swedish study using UK data [1]. The only thing that experts agree on concerning the causes of PCA, is that risk increases with chronicological age. The new study used three different calculations of "biological" age, expecting to get a better age measure for the risk of various cancers.
