An anxious drive / Inflammation
Oh, and everything was perfect with my blood tests apart from an elevation in one of the liver function enzymes which is likely to be caused by the
Amiodarone
. Will see what my EP says about that next week. I’m so over all of this 😩 My positive outlook is waning somewhat.

Amiodarone for 20 years.
The consultant prescribed 100mg daily of
Amiodarone
and 2.5mg of Bisoprolol. He warned me the
Amiodarone
would render me impotent but said it was a small price to pay for saving my life. I was 56 at the time and was the last time my wife and I made love.

Chf and 92 yr old mother
The doctor doesn’t want to put her on
amiodarone
and I agree. She takes 40 mgs of lasix, Eliquis, metoprolol, magnesium, and Lipitor. What would help her at this point? The cardiologist seems to be just managing her condition, but she is getting more uncomfortable with her symptoms.

Amiodarone
My pharmacist did advise me that
Amiodarone
has just been "down graded" and will now only be prescribed if nothing else works which was music to my ears. I do hope that this is the case. I know that some people have had no reaction to it but it seems to have more negative reactions than positive.

Follow up 7 weeks post ablation
I had stopped
amiodarone
after only 25 days of being on it. Also, the Metoprolol was making me tired, so he cut it in half, down to 25 mg 2x a day. He also said that my CHA2DS2-VASc is a 1 so he is thinking of taking me off of my blood thinner in a few months.

Cardioversion
I am really hoping I will be off of
amiodarone
and that my cardioversion will work so I can partake in all the Christmas going one in my house otherwise it will have to fall on everyone else's shoulders which irks me as I so love doing Christmas. Many thanks for your feedback Laura

NHS consulting on curbing Amiodarone and Dronedarone prescriptions
I'm assuming there won't be a total ban on
Amiodarone
since some people can't take the other anti-arrhythmics because of issues such as abnormal heart structure. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-46361639

Amiodarone & Dronedarone to be cut from NHS funding.
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-46361639 The items, which are deemed to be of relatively low clinical effectiveness, to have cheaper options available or to be of "low priority" for funding, are: 1)
Amiodarone
- to treat abnormal heart rhythms 2) Dronedarone - to treat the heart condition atrial fibrillation

How to help?
I don’t have acces to his test results but I suspect from Google that he has thyrotoxicisis from the
amiodarone
he takes for atrial fibrillation. Some days are okayish, others not. How can I best help him? We are in New Zealand - good GP.

Using the Alivecor Kardia Mobile post ablation
I have recently stopped taking
Amiodarone
but am still taking Bisoprolol and Ramipril, which obviously both affect my heart function to some extent.

20 days post ablation
It took 14 hours to get me back in normal sinus rhythm and only when they used the drug that I wanted to avoid,
Amiodarone
. So follow up doc appointment went well. My heart is in normal rhythm. They lowered the dreaded medicine,
Amiodarone
, in half.
