Hi everyone hope people see this as I didn’t get much response on my post prior the third ablation. Which happened in a flurry!
This was my third ablation in less than two years. For those fearful of CV and Ablation take one step at a time and go with- The fib/flutter stops you in your track and changes your perspective on life and certainly on your time and schedule.
I am going on a trip to Cuba in February with daughter- granddaughter and husband. My daughters in laws live there and I went seven years ago before AFIB. I haven’t traveled much since the fib started (2014) except for in the states for a convention and I went into fib.
I am blessed to have a great team of EP and his assistants and the nurses at the heart institute. I was going on for follow up and consult end of January. Will admit am concerned about an ER in Cuba - language being a great barrier and I am not in Havana but the east side of the island.
I was taking Flecanide and metoprolol and last week I got a stirring feeling in my chest and slightly dizzy ( the dizziness had happened several weeks ago ) the following day oh my sweaty couldn’t stand dizzy- tried repeatedly to rest get up and couldn’t. My bp monitor was all over the place actually said error.
I got in for an EKG and appointment and given three choices. One cv and on Flec Two- a Hospital stay and monitor dose new med to convert and stay on that new drug- or third ablation
My last ablation had a terrible blanking period- that’s when I joined this forum- lots of cardio version - trouble with meds/ Amiodarone was my drug to stop it - asked to get off- once out of system - Flutter returns- asked for Flec again - worked till now
This third ablation had work done on five new trouble spots along with old flutter- I think I am their stubborn case. I asked to return to Amiodarone yeah I did - couldn’t handle a repeat like after second- it’s so I can do my trip- hoping for no ill effects- this is day three. The procedure was not scary anymore, limited bruising not overly short of breath- Last night my HR climbed to 77 and I am usually 64-66 so I took my prn quick acting metoprolol-66 this am will see where this goes. I try not to dwell on that but I feel beats - so sensitive to it - hear it in my ears
As I write I have lots of frustration- I was assured that I did nothing to trigger this and also there is this segment of people who cannot tolerate the symptoms. You know when you talk to a nurse they will say you have your anticoagulant- it’s not life threatening but gosh my two days of the event were pure horror .
I suppose my journey will move to other complications- as I read about heart failure as a result of ? And as I get older. I am 71. Very active, teach Pilates and more,
Thanks for listening
