My GP prescribed
Adcal
twice a day but I take it once a day as it does cause constipation. Also took additional Vit D as my level had dropped.

Medication help
I've just had some recent bloods done and my calcium is low so I've been prescribed
Adcal
D3 to take twice daily, would anyone know whether I can take these tablets at the same time as my levothyroxine as there is nothing on the box or leaflet to mention any thing and I rung the pharmacy to ask them

Further advice please
I then realised that the
Adcal
already had D3! So iI went to the local pharmacist to ask him to check my dosages. He was a mature man who said he had supplied many
Adcal
tablets but no one ever had asked for vit K2.

6 weeks post transplant and all good
Meds - down to 5mg Prednisolone, 900mg Valgaciclovir until end of course, an
AdCal
and he seems stable on 6mg Advagraf. Nothing compared to the pretransplant pile of pills he had to take and soon it will be just the Tacs and vitamin.

Prednisolone and kidney stones
I also take prescribed
Adcal
calcium supplement to counteract PRED side effects so not sure if this can also play a part in developing kidney stones.

Left in limbo, I don't know how my appointments are going to work.
She prescribed 15 mg mxt along with prednisolone, plus the usual alendronic acid,
adcal
D3, folic acid, lansoprazole. I saw this consultant a second time in March then she sadly retired. Everything went to plan in blood tests and drugs nurse appointments, then in April a locum took over.

Bowel habit changes
Steroids,
Adcal
, K2, magnesium etc. Plus loads of fruit and veg and little bread. Does all this add up to a looser bowel? Mine seems to be like this for the last 18 months of so after having PMR. Has anyone else noticed any similar changes?

Vitamins K2 and D3
I normally take 1mg pred on wakening and my
Adcal
sometime in the afternoon. My question, what is the most effective time to take the vitamins. Many thanks.

Side Effects of Calcium and vitD3
I started to retake above again but not religiously, then 6months ago I found I had been prescribed
Adcal
-D3, when I enquired of the Chemist was told I must need it and of course when I saw the GP recently omitted to ask and know I must. Any information or thoughts please.

Since April, have discovered a Solgar Calcium Citrate + magnesium supplement which doesn’t cause me extreme constipation like the
Adcal
D3 which I had given up on, quite the opposite in fact. Also taking Vit K2 with my vit D after reading advice on this forum.

Pred and calcium tablets timing
Have now been seeing remarks about separating time of
Adcal
from the Pred. Having Googled and re-read the leaflets on both I can find no mention of this. Dr hasn’t said anything (but then no Dr has said anything useful) either. Can anyone enlighten me as to why, and the evidence?

Catheter with PMR/GCA
Diagnosed with PMR Nov 2017 then GCA Feb 2018 when upped to 60mg Pred along with the usual Omniprazole,
Adcal
and AA. Now down to 9mg Pred and seems to be ok - have throughout walked 6 miles daily. This latest news has really floored me and am apprehensive about the idea of catheter.

Pred and Calcium thanks!
Suppose I’d better take the
Adcal
around 5pm in case it does matter, but it’s a flippin’ job to remember everything all over the place including 4 sets of eyedrops at the right intervals. Just wish it would all leave me in peace!

GCA Sufferers Please be BMA (Be More Aware - than me!)

this possibly can lead to kidney stones. This did happen to me. 3. If having a scan - a PET scan - when checking for levels of inflammation then DO NOT come off your drugs prior to the scan.

Am I being stupid? Follow up
I am assuming that my calcium will come from eating a calcium rich diet plus the daily
Adcal
-D3 tablet? I shall then take VitK2 to help absorption plus VitD3. Should I try to get appointment with new GP and suggest blood tests?

Adcal-C and pill absorption
This phenomenon is purely “physical” and not some mysterious chemical interaction between the
Adcal
-C and the Pred, so to ensure I get the maximum benefit from the Pred I need to take the
Adcal
–C 2 hours before or after it.

Query relating to Alendronic Acid
I still take
Adcal
twice daily. This year I have had a lot of problems with my breathing, several courses of prednisolone and an increase in the dose of my steroid inhaler. Things have just begun to settle down but I am now being reviewed regularly by a different GP in my group practice.
