Am I being stupid? Follow up

Hello

Having got lots of useful information from my post 2 weeks ago, just a few more questions.

I am assuming that my calcium will come from eating a calcium rich diet plus the daily Adcal-D3 tablet? I shall then take VitK2 to help absorption plus VitD3.

Should I try to get appointment with new GP and suggest blood tests? My previous GP arranged monthly blood tests and 3 monthly check ups with GP. This practice, although I saw locum GP and told her I had PMR, has not suggested this.

Thanks.

How much did the monthly blood tests tell you? I think monthly tests after the first few months is possibly a bit OTT but it does depend on what and what they show.

Hi, not sure! When first diagnosed the GP said my bloods did not show raised levels, although at a later date I queried whether they had been raised and another GP checked back and said slightly. A nurse did think my calcium level was getting high but when I saw GP she said they were OK. So probably not necessary?

Three monthly is probably fine. Or if you develop symptoms (maybe though possibly not if they weren't really raised originally). Personally I would like to know the calcium and have it checked if it really is highish - you might not need so much calcium. Have you had a vit D level done?

Not that I am aware.

Just a thought if a nurse was suspicious about the calcium. But I like real nos.

Thanks. I will start the new regime and in a month or so get an apppomtment and have a chat regarding medication. I am on 1mg of pred and shall not try to reduce just yet as some days seem fatigued and others good so am assuming I have probably reached my lowest dose.

No wonder they didn't react much - keep taking the tablet and be patient. That's so low it is doing no harm anywhere.
