Does anyone take Adcal

Adcal how long do we have to take it. I know it's to help the bones when on prednisolone. X

Hi Harrywogan,I take The I Cal D3,guess it is probably the same asAdcal.Was prescribed it as soon as I got GCA and am still on it now 22 months later.Will probably take it forever if Doctor continues to prescribe it.Tastes nice as well!Was on AA but stopped it so look on it as a bit of a back up though I do make sure I get lots of calcium and if sun is out( not much chance of that now.,) I get outside to soak up the rays .Good luck to you.x🌼

I do… took it all through GCA/Pred journey - and still do now 8 years on. Was recommended to stay on it at last DEXA scan - even though no issues. Plus VitK2 mk7

I was put on Adcal with the Prednisolone from the start. Managed to get to zero Pred 1 year ago but still prescribed Adcal and GP says I will be on it for life. It was recommended on here to take Vitamin K2 Mk7 to help the calcium in Adcal reach the bones, which I do. Have you had a Dexascan to see whether you have osteoporosis (or the beginnings of) ?Good luck with everything.

I take it - I am 71 year old female

I take Accrete d3 and I was told it is for life as I have Vit d deficiency

I also take it along with vitaminK2 Mk7, following info read on this fantastic site.

I was prescribed it as soon as I started taking pred, as I refused to take AA because I had not had a dexa scan to check if I needed it…. GP refused my request for scan. On my prescription, it says to be taken as long as I am on steroids…so not sure what happens when I finish them, but currently that’s probably quite a long way off as I am still on 7 mg.

I take it for D vitamins coming into winter in the northern hemisphere a bit of extra D keeps mood up and the skin just a little better don't have to use the wife's oil
