Adrenal insufficiency
I've just got back a blood cortisol and DHEA test (the
ACTH
I had done was botched and arrived at lab unfrozen, so having that repeated next week): Morning cortisol (blood) 161 nmol (166-507) DHEAS. 2.2. umol (0.7-12.5 ) BH gp said this was a little low and suggested further testing.

ACTH test - help with interpretation please
I'm questioning everything my gp has told me in the past, so I'm just revisiting an
acth
test my gp agreed to to rule out Addison's (she was not interested in finding out about adrenal Fatigue as such ) I had the 30 minute test. It was done at 9am.... on an empty stomach (gp didn't tell me this.

I have found interesting info re my nerve demyelination, yes with reference to Thyroid and other autoimmune diseases, under the

No energy at all.
When that didn't lower my
ACTH
levels enough, the endocrinologist told me to take 20 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. That helped balance my levels as of a year ago. Now he wants me to increase to 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg at night.

Adrenal Test - Convincing Myself
I've been mulling over whether I want or need to test my adrenal glands (via the synacthen/
ACTH
test) , having reached the 7mg Pred dosage level I consider myself fortunate, as although having had my share of hiccups along the way, I've reached this point in the manner and time I had planned.

Hormones
The rapid
ACTH
test was not pleasant, but it had to be done. I know some of us have Addison's, how many of us have had our hormones thoroughly checked out? A weight off my mind.

Primary vs. Secondary Addison's Disease
I went in for low cortisol (was at 6 for each original test), add a little
ACTH
and it goes haywire. Does this mean secondary Addison's is possible, and that my pituitary may not be producing enough
ACTH
to stimulate my adrenals to produce cortisol? Any and all advice is helpful! TIA.

Struggling with GP and diagnosis
My GP gave me bloot test forms for cortisol and
acth
but ommitted to tell me they should be taken at specific times and to avoid stress and exercise before. When I went for the
acth
one after having sat in an employment mediation hearing for over 2 hours and was really wound up.

Why do I feel so awful?
I also have Adrenal problems (Both my Cortisol and
ACTH
were low). I have seen Dr P (Dr Peatfield) a few years ago. I do need to see him soon. Anyway, It was suggested that I take Adrenal support ( in the form of NAX).

Update - Endo visit - don't know how I feel!
He couldn't answer that and agreed to test all pituitary hormones including
ACTH
, with the exception of sex hormones as I'm menopausal.

Am I sitting in the waiting room for disease?
I asked if he could do the
ACTH
provocation tested that diagnosed my adrenal insufficiency when I was younger, he said the test is too costly and I do have adrenal insufficiency, but nothing to warrant treatment, but I should wear a medic bracelet.
