Rheumatoid Arthritis and Heart Disease: 28 Ways You Can Lower Your Risk
Interleukin-6 inhibitors include tocilizumab (
Actemra
) and sarilumab (Kevzara). These drugs work well for some RA patients, so unless you already have high cholesterol there’s no need to dismiss them out of hand.

Tozilizumab/Actemra
I am interested in anyone in the UK who has been prescribed Tozilizumab for "refractory GCA". I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR in July 2015 and prescribed 40mg of Prednisolone with a 14 month reduction ptogramme.. if only 😣 I reluctantly started taking 10mg weekly of Methotrexate in Sep 2017 because

Update on arm pain & dizzy/faint
Still think this started around time I started
Actemra
. He said could be exacerbated from rx especially if I have tendency for this problem. Next appt is with spine specialist for multiple back issues. Want to see what they have to say but sure don't intend to do surgery.

GCA Flair after Shingrix Vaccine
Was put on
Actemra
in late December, and completed 18 weekly injections, with last injection on April 8. (Discontinued do to persistently elevated liver enzymes.) I was disappointed to discontinue as the
Actemra
had truly made a positive difference; I felt so normal again.

UP DATE
While I was on
Actemra
injections it was down to about 5. I saw gp last week and he said if it is over 40 at next blood test I will need to increase from 5mg to 10mg prednisolone. Going to the shops today my legs were back to feeling like jelly.

NHS rapid policy statement on Tocilizumab for GCA during the Covid-19 pandemic
Tocilizumab (Ro-
actemra
) comes off licence this year and the hope is that other pharmaceutical companies will produce generic ( cheaper) versions to enable more people to at least try it. Best wishes to you all, Ros

Recently diagnosed with GCA
He’s also going to put me on
Actemra
, which I will self inject. So this is basically where I’m up to on my journey. I just want to do everything possible to avoid unwanted side effects.

Actemra info
She said that section 12.2 of full patient prescribing information insert (on line) for
Actemra
says that ESR & CRP are influenced & decreased by
actemra
. CRP & ESRare not good indicator of inflammation for person taking
Actemra
. She said high or fluctuating bp is very common.

Update on diverticulitis and prednisone taper
I feel pretty good on the 15 mgs but we are not going to start
actemra
until I get settled down. I am so tired. 17 days of antibiotics really did me in...nausea the whole time. Just wondering what is next. 🙄🤪

BP labile & dizzy spells & arm pain
I think
Actemra
or maybe Boniva effects my thinking, or at least I get to use it as an excuse.

Tapering UK style.....slowly~!
I've been trying to taper my prednisolone and take an injection of
Actemra
each week. Right now 8 mg seems to be my sweet spot and my rheumy here in the states was having me reduce by 2mg per week.

Tired and weak
I’m down to 4mg of Prednisone and having
Actemra
4mg by IV every month. I’ve used the DSNS method and have reduced by half a milligram at a time. My adrenal test can back as 20, right in the middle of normal. Just had my bloodwork done. My Sed is 2 and my CRP was .7.

I have a question, GCA type😎🤔😏
I also inject
Actemra
each week. My immediate thought was to go back up to 8 mg. But if there is no inflammation would it matter? I'll talk myself out of this speedbump in short order, but I'm disappointed. Anybody else in this boat with me?
