Actemra

Actemra was not started until I was at 10 mg. currently I’m at 3 and a half daily with Actemra every other week. My question is, at this point in my taper is Actemra even worth it? I noticed here that people on Actemra are tapering just as slow as I did before Actemra.

I am still taking my weekly Actemra injections, the last was Friday. The Actemra information sheet suggests discontinuing shots if ill.

Does anyone know if being on Actemra puts you more or less at risk of covid complications? I had one doctor tell me I was actually safer on Actemra bc it is being used as a treatment for Covid. And, anyone know if Actemra affects our ability to mount an immune response to vaccines?

Wondering if anyone has had dental extraction while on Actemra. I was told by my dentist that it affects the jaw and I would need to see a specialist since an extraction would be problematic? I am in the UK and have weekly Actemra injections. Thx

I’ve just been reading about Actemra for PMR. Wondering how many of you are taking this and at what dosage of Pred.

Does anyone know if Actemra should be stopped for a UTI...? I suspect I might have one....on my 17th injection today....still waiting for Doc to submit authorization for urine sample

Called rheumatologist to see if I should cease taking Actemra as I had read Actemtra can cause neutropenia. Her nurse called yesterday to say doctor did not think low levels from Actemra/ prednisone, and follow up with GP.

Now I’m at 10 mg prednisone and am just starting Actemra. My question is how fast can I taper prednisone with Actemra? PS: I feel like the PMR never came back though. I had no PMR symptoms this time around. Would that be possible?

Can someone tell me please who can prescribe ACTEMRA. Can a GP or has it got to be a Rheumatologist? Many thanks.

What happens if you decide to stop taking Actemra?? Do you have flares and them have to take more prednisone?? I have to have a hip replacement and my surgeon is worried about an infection as this could be really dangerous for me.

Can CGPs prescribe Actemra? What are your experiences? I’m in the US, and have had 3 bad experiences with rheumatologists. One good one who listened, but she left. My GP has been prescribing my prednisone, but not really managing the dose.

Actemra shots, specifically the Epi-Pen....still having problems injecting...have to push hard until I feel needle pierce skin....this morning I felt medicine drip down my leg, but some went in because I had blood and a pin hole in my leg.

Hi Everyone, I’m wondering if there is anyone on here who is managing their Actemra injection pen shots four-weekly? I’m interested to know why your shots are spaced out to 4 weekly (or more), and for how long and how successfully you are managing this. Thanks. 😘

I already inject Actemra weekly. I’m a bit hesitant to start a second biologic. My question is has anyone else had to inject repatha and how did it work for you. I am still on hydrocortisone tablets twice a day and Actemra weekly. Thank you. Peggy

Hi, I will likely be on Actemra in a week, providing OK tests. Sofar been on only pred in moderate dose (strated at 80 due to eye involvement and tapered down to 2 in about a year.

I am on Actemra which has helped me to get down to 5mg of pred a day!! But I have a problem with losing my breath, do other people have this problem?

Anyways I’m back up to 10mg of prednisone and not going back on Actemra because of diverticulitis. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar situation of having to abruptly stop Actemra and how did it go?

Have had about a year of monthly Actemra infusions (monthly infusions not weekly shots). I don’t feel different after them. Why shouldn’t I stop taking them? I still have some heaviness in arms/legs and some minor pains on occasion. Just wonder if they are still needed.
