PMR following osteoporosis treatment with Aclasta

I was diagnosed with atypical PMR in April 2019, a couple of months after symptoms first appeared, which was a few weeks after getting an infusion of Aclasta (zolodronic acid) for osteoporosis .

What to take to discontinue Prolia safely and for how long?

Neither of the GPs I've seen thinks Aclasta is a good idea due to the bad allergic reaction I had to Prolia after the 4th injection as the Aclasta infusion would be in my system for a year and there would be nothing I could do to control side effects if they occurred.

Aclasta infusion.

This is my 4th day following zolendronic acid infusion and I thought I would share how this has been for me. I was very resistant to having further treatment having stopped taking alendronic acid due to side effects. However, after recent DEXA scan showed fracture in T9 and after much discussion I

The suggestion for treatment are Prolia or Aclasta because of my acid reflux, has anyone any experience with the products. I’m a seventy five year old male. This is a great forum and proved essential with information when reducing prednisone and Coping with flares

PMR and Phlebitis Anyone?

I suffered a vertebral crush fracture in 2016 and I was on Forteo for a year, and have received once yearly IV infusions of Aclasta for the past two years. My bone density has improved.

Best treatment for Osteoporosis in the hips.

All the medicines (prolia/teriparatide/ Aclasta) works works magically to increase bone density in AP spine but not the hips. Can Biphosphonates like Reclast or Aclasta be taken for more than 3 years?

Osteoporosis treatment

Which is the better option for biphosphonates treatment 1) Alendronae (Fosammax) or Zolendronic Acid (Aclasta)? Is the effects of Prolia (denosumab) leave the body quickly and generally disappear after one stops taking them?

Can you lose the efficiency of bisphosphonates with time? Can the body get used to them after many uses and then not getting help from them?

I have been using bisphosphonates orally every 4 years ( that would be 5-6 times during 20 years) and after that 5 years ago I had one Aclasta infusion. Can the body get used to them so they lose their efficiency? So in total I would say 7 times in 27 years.

Dentist nightmare

My dentist would not extract it due to the aclasta infusion. The Consultants, nurses etc all quite happy to prescribe these biphosphonates but they don’t inform you of the possible problems with teeth. I was in agony and very depressed waiting for the extraction.

Prescribed Prolia

I know this is a different drug but I had a very bad reaction to Aclasta some years ago and am reluctant to put drugs in my body that are there for months. I currently take Vit K2 (MK7 from natto extract) 100mcg daily, Hidroferol (calcifediol) monthly and magnesium.

Switching from Prednisone to Hydrocortisone

I have side effects of raised ocular pressure, osteopaenia, cararacts and jaw bone loss due to 1 Aclasta infusion. I am presently on 5 mg prednisone and am experiencing symptoms relating to low cortisone levels.

Aclasta Infusion

Having been diagnosed with PMR at the end of 2014, my Rheumatologist prescribed an Aclasta infusion (bone protection) a year ago. The reaction I had to it was horrendous and lasted two days, far worse than the "flu-like" symptoms that had been mentioned.

Strontium ranelate stopped working

and I would be interested to hear if anyone has experience of another good drug, I don't want oral bisphosphenates, and was looking at Prolia or Aclasta. Thank you for listening.

Calcium supplements etc.

I was given intravenous Aclasta 2 years ago without being given full information about side effects (language problem!) and it took me a month to get over it. I am now taking Ideos Unidia - calcium 1000 mg and Vit D 800 Ui - daily.

IV bisphosphonates experiences?

I'd be very interested how others have got on with IV bisphosphonates...i understand only ibandronate ((bonviva), disodium pamidronate (aredia) & zoledronic acid (aclasta) are given by IV My other issue is chronic osteomyelitis of the upper jaw, which is a long standing antibiotic responsive condition
