After spending six years reducing preds due to polymyalga and finally being off them for a quite a while and having several fractures the latest compression fractures of vertebrae with the attendant pain I visited rheumatology after getting a referral by my GP I have received information as to treatment that is available, and looking on several websites I was amazed how many people have negative feed back, it’s quite depressing reading. I’m doing my exercises as prescribed by the pain management program and trying to be positive . The suggestion for treatment are Prolia or Aclasta because of my acid reflux, has anyone any experience with the products. I’m a seventy five year old male. This is a great forum and proved essential with information when reducing prednisone and Coping with flares

Worth a try for your Acid Reflux.
Juice of one lemon, preferably unwaxed)
1 Minute in Microwave
Squeeze lemon
Divide juice in to three
Take with water (not too much) before your meals.
You can take it another way: healthline.com/health/gerd/....
It does work for most people. Quite a few were then did not need a PPI.
The current latest recommendation is to start with zolendronic acid (Aclasta) before switching to Prolia after a year or so to build bone density more quickly.
It has been found that if Prolia is only used for the previously recommended 2-3 years there is a rapid loss of bone density when it is stopped which can lead to spinal fractures so either the Prolia should be continued indefinitely or the patient switched to bisphosphonates. They have observed that if the bisphosphonates are given BEFORE the Prolia the results post Prolia are improved.
Thanks for the update I was thinking of terapartin as it builds the bone instead of preventing the reabsorbing but not to be as it might not be recommended. Thanks for putting me in the right place for the treatment, I’m on a pain management regime and that helps and at seventy five I still want to remain active but don’t want to break anymore bones, thanks again for your help and dedication
