Brand new here and if I'm honest here out of desperation. I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid (GP described my readings as a cricket score!) 19 years ago. After combination therapy (carbimazole and levothyroxine) it appeared to stabilise for two or three years but then I relapsed and decided to

Confused! Iodine supplement or increase in levothyroxine?
Hello! Newby here. Just joined. Never been on any chat site before but very frustrated with doctors right now! Looking for some answers and some support. Bottom line, I was put on 25mcg of Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism 3 months ago. Initially my blood work showed that my iodine levels were very low

New here, looking for private doctor in London
Hi there, I have been suffering from depression including lack of interest in activities, difficulty concentrating, difficulty doing math and problems with working memory pretty much all my life. I think it may be due to some sort of hypothyroidism. My TSH when last checked was 3.1 mIU/L, free thyroxine

Hashimoto’s AND recurring thyroiditis? You’re not alone!
Any one else in the 5%-20% of people with Hashimoto’s who also suffer with recurring painful thyroiditis? I’ve found some studies to use as evidence. I was diagnosed autoimmune hypothyroid 20 years ago and I’m on 100mc thyroxine. But I’ve never been well - permanent muscle/joint stiffness/aching/

CT scan
Hi all, Apologies this is not directly cardiac related, though I have a question some of you may be able to help with. I have a lost fish bone or aspirated meat that is suspected to be somewhere in my larynx and I need to have a CT scan. In the past year I’ve had terrible reactions to things I’ve

3 weeks post RAI
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice. I am 24 days post RAI. I was told when given my date for that blasted pill that I would be all clear and safe to have close contact with my children. iodine
hi, does anyone on this site know if hypothyroid people need to take iodine. my daughter has read an article which says that people with hypothyroidism should take iodine supplements as everyone is very low on iodine especially people with hypothyroidism. I had understood we shouldn't take iodine supplements

Hello everyone. I'm in need of help. I had the following labs done yesterday, and have a Dr. appointment tomorrow.
Hello! I am new to the group, and so thankful I'm here. So much knowledge. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2009. Radioactive Iodine ablation was done in July 09 and I was then diagnosed with Graves disease. I went through radiation on my eyes, and a year later had orbital decompression surgery

IS ENDEMIC GOITER DUE TO A LACK OF IODINE?
Newly published article which asks a question which has wandered around my head for years. It seems improbable that goitre is solely caused by lack of iodine. Few other things are anything like that simple, so why should this be trivial? Hopefully, we will eventually see the author's answer.

Kelp supplements for bones
Does anyone use kelp supplements or weed itself for bone nutrition. It contains plenty of Vitamins and minerals. Its not something Australian culture seems to pursue but many countries do harvest kelp and other seaweeds and consume. There appear to be warnings about the amount of iodine especially if
