Apologies this is not directly cardiac related, though I have a question some of you may be able to help with.
I have a lost fish bone or aspirated meat that is suspected to be somewhere in my larynx and I need to have a CT scan. In the past year I’ve had terrible reactions to things I’ve not had a problem with such as penicillin (severe hives and palpitations), codeine etc. Therefore I’m terrified of having the contrast and having some kind of cardiac problem...
So. If I opt to have the ct scan without contrast. Do you think they’ll still see the fish bone/aspirated meat? Does the contrast really make that much difference? I also have hashimotos and I know iodine due isn’t good to take if you have thyroid problems.
Thank you! 😊

Your radiologist will guide you. I have had ct without contrast and just the other week cardiac ct with contrast. Neither caused me issues. Tell your radiologist and consultant about your concerns and history and let them help you decide which route to take. Good luck with the outcome.
The experts won't want reactions any more than you so although worrying for you I'm sure they will only use contrast etc if there is no other way, once you've explained. Best wishes.
