Only a little way up the hill....

Hello!

Here I am, again...

Not really a rest day yesterday... a day full of all sorts, including Mr OF getting a tad down in the dumps...and me getting a tad anxious as we tried to calm things down.

The day started calmly enough with YWA.... the normal routines ...ad some Bodyfit by Amy!

Then it all sort of went pear-shaped... End result was a very tired Mr OF who had two sleeps during the day and slept nine hours last night...

Lucky I got some moves in early... I painted most of the afternoon.... and was very calm by bed time!

So today.... a gorgeous morning again and the sun peeping in through a crack in the curtains, woke me slowly and gently...YWA, wake up routine and all the normal leg work...

Two cups of tea later and the day begins...

* Teeth Cleaning squats and ankle raises too

* YWA... Breathing.... so good right now and getting me through some tricky moments if need be...

* Some really good stretches today... my body needs to work a little harder...

Breakfast treats.. pancakes with lemon... yummy... yoghurt and honey for after..

* Then off out for Mr OF and I's walk... Today... we was a milestone one...!

One of his favourite quick walks, pre HA was just up the hill a little way, to a big, road signpost and back... exactly a mile !

Today... he walked it... with me!!!

Yeay... Huge smile, as he patted the signpost and a bigger smile as we retraced our steps back home... photographs were taken!

Today too, for the first time... I did feel the slowness of the pace, and was getting an urge to move a little faster, but I kept pace... except to go a few steps ahead for photographs! Maybe it was the hill !

Back home and though my Nan would have been very cross... I did some washing and pegged it out... on a SUNDAY...

We have a busy day tomorrow and Mr OF has a CT scan on Tuesday so needs must! Things washed and packed for Wales... fingers crossed... and all the towels washed and dried in the sunshine.

* Another arm and leg workout!!

Oh and although it is not soup weather I made a huge pot of veggie soup... talk about health in a bowl!!

Then more painting... my little lion is coming along slowly and fiercely!

So, some relaxing breathing tonight, an early night too, and a workout day tomorrow beckons... with small one here... Mama too in the background, she is working!

Mr OF will be doing his walk alone ! Eeek!

The exercises may not seem to be high impact or of long duration... but they are all helping, all adding up.

They are teaching me even more about myself...as my running does. also.. they are teaching me patience..., discipline, (as I tweak, adapt, and listen to my body), and strength, on days when I feel less than strong .

Onwards and upward... slow and steady.

Sleep well or rest easy. Everyone.

See you tomorrow !

I expect you have shared many highs and lows having being married now for 50 years this week Floss. You both coped with a blip day, and Mr OF was able to pull of a triumphant walk today, such is your teamwork. ❤💙

Lots going on, busy days and getting ready for the coast trip hopefully, I do hope you also get chance to relax and celebrate your long and happy 50+ years together as well.

The three A's are working for you, as is your keeping moving plan.

I know you will enjoy your day with LRIT tomorrow, and won't have a second to worry about that hospital appointment.

Keep positive, and trust that all will be well for your trip.

The castle is calling...

Thinking of you.

We are heading home tomorrow, and it is my little lioness' birthday on Tuesday.

We have indeed ! Weathered a few storms en route too!

I am keeping moving and keeping J moving too! He is much more positive now.... it has been more of an impact than I think he realised.

Yoga done this morning and small one will arrive sometime after 8! It is a beautiful day so outside activities will be on the cards ...non stop!

Hope the scan goes to plane and we will take our time heading to Wales... That castle is calling !

Thank you... and safe journey today ! xxx

All of the little things do count. Long covid recovery and being taught to measure my energy resources by "spoons" taught me this. It seems a long time ago now, but even a year/18 months ago, I'd have to work out what I needed from another room/the fridge and get everything in one trip as another trip would be too draining.

Now doing some heel drops when I move from one level to another in the house, or standing on one leg whilst brushing my teeth, or doing "push ups" against the wall while the coffee is brewing are all vital fitness routines!

It's supposed to be great to help stave off dementia. I do half on one leg and then switch to the other!

I've done those for a while...lots if ankle and leg exercises from Wild Ginger Running..

Gthants profile image
GthantsGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

That was new to me, so after a brief (ish) rabbit hole excursion, Wild Ginger is now added to my list! 🤣

I have to say... some ideas there are really great!

Links here from way back;

Some great calf exercises too !

I am re-visiting as I try to build back strength in my legs and ankles again!

Thank you - I'm a real one for calf raises at every opportunity. I was chatting to someone at the theatre on Sunday and stepped back to bob up and down as we talked!

I think one of my key tasks in the coming days is to sort out my Running/Recovery/Back pain folders on my MacBook desktop as I am constantly saving new ideas but they are random and not as easy to get to as they should be. I'm going to see if I can find some logical order!😬

I have a log ongoing right now.. but it is an actual book... I was getting too much lack of organisation using my comp.

Old fashioned charts and tick lists.... it is working for me right now... :) It will be good to get the feeling of, ready to try a run, again too!
