VWBs: What apps do you use for S&F

Short question to all our Virtual Workout Bodies:

What apps do you use for Strength and Flexibility?

Or do you not use any? Do you use a book, a video, YouTube? Or do you note down your own Yoga flows on paper?

In my case, and on an IPhone, I use the following regularly, all have basic functionality free:

1. VT Stretch for all my post run stretches. It makes certain I hold all stretches long enough, and that I don’t forget any stretch poses. I have a custom stretch routine set up since 1st day of my running journey and have never missed a stretch thanks to this app!

2. Tabata Timer for outdoor workout routines. When moving my NHS S&F outside and after having finished the podcast, I wanted to continue this routine but with my own music. So I started to put in the whole NHS week 5 routine into the Tabata Timer with its synthesised voice instructions, and voila, I could play my music in the background while following all the instructions. Since then I have used it to put quite a few workouts from books and websites, those unavailable as voice only, into this little app and it’s great as long as you can suffer the synthesised voice. But functionally I give it a huge thumbs up!

3. Yoga Poses is a little app I sought out to give me a quick visual dictionary of what all the Yoga poses are called! I do yoga (as most of you will know) with YWA YOUTUBE videos, but when describing flows, I often need to look up their name. This is perfect for that, although it’s links to YouTube do not work anymore.

4. FITON is my favourite workout app, with loads of free choices of video workouts, including yoga, Pilates, strength, etc etc. Loads of search criteria from level, duration, instructor! Simply brill!

5. 7M: If FitOn did not exist, I’d certainly use the 7M Seven minutes App more. It was the first fitness app I ever had, and I remember selecting movement routines I could do in the garden, e.g. not sitting or lying and definitely no jumping! It’s great, although all the other apps and my YOUTUBE-easy setup in my living-room workout corner have meant I don’t use it as much as I could. But the time will come!

So what apps do you use, if any?

There are only 2 apps I've used, SmartWOD Timer and another Interval timer - I had downloaded yoga and some strength ones but used only once - never found one that suits me (but then I am not an app fan) Will try some of the ones you mentioned, but ...we're back in the gym!

I like it! But I might have gotten it free as a one-off. Let me know what you think!

It’s £4.99 😔. I don’t think I’m up to paying out for it if I don’t like it 😣

☹️yeah, sorry. I don’t remember how I got it, I think it was free at some point. Here are some pics. Voice: it only counts down, so no voice instructions.

I use Nike Training for their pre and post run workouts, they’ve got half a dozen and it’s all free. I’ve been looking for other options though as I like a bit of variety and I really want something that’ll target my hips. I looked at FitOn but was annoyed that I couldn’t AirPlay into a TV to try it out so have never given it a proper look, I’ll go back and look again!

Regarding paying for apps that turn out to be naff, you can just request a refund through the App Store. I’ve done this quite a few times and never had a problem getting my money back.
