A few months ago I did a speed challenge - ridiculous now I think about it - anyway that involved running fast as possible over 1k (as part of a longer run). I did this on pavement 🤦♀️ I know!
Anyway my entire right hip area suddenly started pulsing/aching. I rested for a week and then resumed running but vowed never to try any kind of speed challenge ever again (what was I thinking?!).
So months later I am running regularly but the hip ache still comes either during/and or after running. Not so much I can’t run or walk or sleep well just an ache that doesn’t really go away.
This hip has been injured in past and I had bursitis.
What should I do to strength my hip?

This is a really interesting video about hip issues for runners: youtu.be/gzhSsXP-xPY
I’ve never had any hip issues but I do have reoccurring knee niggles (see today’s post healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... ) and my decision was to simply progress more slowly in my plans to allow my knee to get stronger.
I would think if it does not disappear, a visit or call to a physiotherapist might be a good thing to do.
I've been dealing with a hip injury, more discomfort than pain. After trying a bit of rest and a couple of short/easy runs (no problem)I set off on a longer run and had to stop and walk at 9.5k. I've consulted a sports physio as I felt it was important to find out what was going on, and I'm currently exercising and walking my way back to fitness after basically expecting too much from my body for it's stage of fitness progression. The point of my tale is that from a personal point of view I felt it was advisable to find out what the issue was., as my experimental rest periods and trial runs (from a standpoint that it was only uncomfortable while running) didn't seem to be helping? Not sure if this is helpful for you. Best of luck whatever you decide the way forward is 🤗
Thanks LOY this is helpful. I went for a 4K run this morning and all is well. I will see what happens when iver next few reasons runs and longer distances. Good luck to you for a speedy recovery.
