Iโm trying hard to give my knees the necessary rest between runs. But itโs hard!
๐๐ปโโ๏ธSo I ran yesterday, which went fine. But by the evening I was missing my time in the living-room workout corner. ๐งโโ๏ธ
๐ The evening between 5 and 6 pm nowadays feels like itโs sort of my time still, having just come down from my work office with a commute of one flight of stairs ๐ (!), stiffly-tired and bleary-eyed ๐คช, and the rest of the family still dispersed throughout the house waiting to gather again in the time before dinner. ๐ฅ
๐ชSo yesterday I couldnโt help myself and did a foam rolling stretch-y kind of knee workout, but by bedtime ๐ฅฑ I could tell I should have given my knees a rest, just like I had originally planned! ๐ฉ
๐So I need to tweak my plan a bit more, in order to give me more motivation to give my knees some rest but still give me my workout-corner session, even if just a 15 min. So my week has to now be able to incorporate 3 runs, and 2 knee-focussed workouts (still uncertain about when in the week) and.... Iโm so desperate to continue to do my 3 body workouts, which recently were generally made up of 2 Pilates and one of Lauraโs Strength & Flex. But I think I got to take it slow with my knees at the moment, by doing knee strengthening workouts whilst keeping to knee-rest days.๐ฆต
๐ชBut there might be short workouts I could do that donโt put any pressure on knees and can count as knee-resting days?
โSo the question for me was how to do workouts not putting significant pressure on my knees. Additionally, having sat all day in front of the computer, how to find workouts that are not sitting as well, but do allow knees to rest (so no childโs pose or downward dog) ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ
๐ชSo I started searching for various upper body workouts, possibly also chair-based workouts, but today I found a great one for this purpose.
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ ๐๐ โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ โโ๏ธSay hello to Cassey Ho on FitOn, who does a 15min arms only workout โWorkday Arm Sculptโ which is surprisingly taxing, and very enjoyable! She suggests one can do this workout either standing up or on a chair (during work), and I found doing them standing was a fabulous remedy after a dayโs work of sitting in front of a computer. And easy on the knees with now downward dogs in sight!
๐ฑFitOn is of course an app, able to downloaded for free and all the body workouts are free. (Recipes and planning is behind a paywall)
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ ๐โโ๏ธ๐ โโ๏ธ๐๐ โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ ๐So I certainly have enjoyed its offer and one can search for all sorts of workouts. But I will have to consider making a list of upper body workouts to give me my workout-corner fix!
Happy working out everyone!
