A foam roller workout!!!

Today was my rest / recovery day, and as expected, I felt as if I was missing something.

So after dinner out came my FitOn App (thanks to a recommendation on the Bridge10k group), and up came my saved roller recovery workout with Breann.

It is quite short, ca 10 minutes, but she covers 4 areas (although she says 5!) and how to thoroughly roll these: hamstrings, itbs, glutes, upper back.

My hubby even joined in! So we were rolling and grimacing in effort. And a bit of pain here and there, as we loosened those knots! I have to admit, when Breann says, “and where you feel a bit of pain, stay on there until your muscles relax“, I still am having to put a lot of effort in simply holding myself into position. For me, it’s definitely not as easy (or as elegant) as it looks! (No virtual roses thrown at my feet this time!)

But it did feel great afterwards, legs feeling warm like having had a massage.

Of course you can just look up these movements yourself, but having someone talk you through these routines via video is just so much nicer!

I certainly can recommend it and it’s also available for free (although it is yet another app on your phone).

Happy workouts, everyone!

Thanks for the recommendation, this looks great. I need to get a foam roller and being someone who needs a plan, having a routine to follow seems the way to go

Yes, it’s a lovely one, but sadly the only foam rolling routine on FitOn. There are some Youtube ones, if one desires a bit of variety, but I haven’t tried them yet. But I look forward to coming back to this one, once in a while.

It is a good video. I found it uncomfortable, especially on my tight calves so had to adapt it slightly, but the difference afterwards was fantastic. I have used it a few times on my calves since and it is not quite so uncomfortable. I think practice is the key.

I love the FitOn app but there are too many workouts to choose. I feel that I have to toss a coin in order to choose which workout to do.

Yes, I think I got the idea to explore FitOn from you, so big thanks! It just looks great, but my pre-arranged plan is so full that I could only fit in the roller recovery on my day of rest. But workouts from FitOn will feature in my next 5-week plan!

I like FitOn too. Although my favourites are the night time wind down routines 😅. Like you, I much prefer following a video than a list of things to do - I find it's better for timing and effort, not to mention motivation.

Absolutely. Just the small size of the screen annoys me, as we don’t have an iPad. How do you watch it?

FitOn I just have on my phone. But yoga or fitness videos I generally use an old iPad

Thanks. Yeah, I’ve got everything on my phone as annoyingly the NHS fitness videos also don’t play audio on my PS/TV with the big screen. But once I’ve finished the NHS videos and move on to exploring some YouTube workouts than I’ll have a big screen!

It looks as if there are some FitOn videos on You Tube - not sure what percentage of the ones that are on the app - but may be worth you taking a look
